Girl spanked to death in the name of God - The Horrors of Religion

I am posting this as a blog because I wanted to write a comment about the video.

The story in the video is about those in the fundamentalist movement who take the bible literally when it says you should beat a child. The book that is referenced in the video goes into detail on how this should be done. As a father I am sickened by this.

There have been a couple posts recently on how atheists should be respectful of religion and let people do what they want as long as they keep it to themselves. As long as it doesn't affect us. These people did just that. They beat their children, according to the bible, in the privacy of their own home. It didn't affect me right?

This is why I fight. This is why I am vocal. This is why I have a disgust for religion. This is why we need to stand up and speak out. Because, the little girl who died could not speak up for herself. This behavior is in-humane and whether you are on the fringe like this family or just refer to the bible now and then when looking for excuses on how to behave, to me they are all equally accountable for the death of that child.

I was raised with spanking.... but what that book condones is not spanking... it is ritualistic torture and that is just beyond words... I also cannot believe that the parents only got 22 years for what they did to that child.... and people wonder why the world is in the state that it is..... ...............

And it was not in the name of jesus far as I know. my moms always used to say "common sense is the best gift god could give man, but people don't seem to use it" and these idiots really didn't use theirs.

"Godly" is just another world for "evil" They are indistinguishable.

"...atheists should be respectful of religion..." NO! If we give the the benefit of "innocent until someone dies" ...

THEN AN INNOCENT DIES!!! And the guilty get away with "my religion says I was right"
