This morning I have had an interesting discourse with a christian by text message. They happened to send me a text message that told me they were praying for me (as I recently rejected religion in favour of Atheism).
After some to fro regarding the ability of god to answer prayer, they then proceeded to use biblical references to support their claim that god is real and does want to answer prayer. I find this an interesting proposition...that to provide evidence to someone who denies the existence of god, they use "god's word".
Surely if god is not real then his word too is nothing more than an entertaining story and in fact has no power perceived or otherwise. Of course they did use the old "Jesus came to save us all" line, but to save us from what?
There is no magical beings, no god or devil. After seven years of diligently seeking god and his kingdom I have seen absolutely no evidence as to his existence...and if he does not exist neither does the devil (a fallen angel if you believe those kind of things). This is simply the oldest trick of religion, the control by fear. Jesus saved us from an eternity of suffering in hell...be afraid infidel...be very afraid ;-)
