Comment by Nina van der Roos on July 25, 2011 at 8:54am IF it existed then every single government on the planet would be after it, as would every church !
That said I am convinced there is a trans-dimensional gateway in our house somewhere that is accessible only by our kid's Lego bricks !
Comment by Michael on July 25, 2011 at 12:13pm I think the most phenomenal alledged supernatural event this century is:

This is definitely one for the X-files.
To date, no credible scientific explanation

I'll repeat again - Just because a scientific explanation hasn't been fount yet, doesn't mean that the incident was of supernatural origin. A few thousand years ago rain, thunder, storms, floods, earthquakes & the like were attributed to acts of god. But now we know what really happens.
Also, did you read the critical evaluation part of the link you just posted? I think mass delusion due to religious predisposition would be a good bet.

You can't photograph a mass delusion, moreover in addition to the apparition, there was a flock of luminous doves photographed in the sky above the church.
Comment by Akshay Bist on July 25, 2011 at 12:48pm There was some light effect. What people make of it is upto their psyche. Someone said it was Mary, most of the population(probably all) there followed an abhramic religion. That they saw mary in the lights after someone pointed out that he saw mary would be mass delusion due to a religious predisposition. In some other country it would have been some other deity.
Anyways, this has been discussed to death before & I don't wish to start again.

James, I did not catch that. Nonetheless, here is a partial photographic account.
The Apparitions Of The Blessed Holy Virgin Mary
To Millions In The Coptic Orthodox Church
Named After Her, In Zeitoun,
Cairo, Egypt (1968-1970)
Photo of Virgin Mary Coptic Orthodox Church in Zeitoun, Cairo, Egypt.
It is over the domes of this small church that our Lady appeared to millions
for more than a year, starting on the eve of Tuesday, April 2, 1968. The church has
five domes: the central large dome stands up about 12 meters above the ground surface,
surrounded by four smaller domes, each of them is raised 9 meters above the ground.

over the church named after Her in Zeitoun.
For more than a year, starting on the eve of Tuesday, April 2, 1968, the Blessed Holy Virgin Saint Mary, Mother of God, appeared in different forms over the domes of the Coptic Orthodox Church named after Her at Zeitoun, Cairo, Egypt. The late Rev. Father Constantine Moussa was the church priest at the time of these apparitions. The apparitions lasted from only a few minutes up to several hours and were sometimes accompanied by luminous heavenly bodies shaped like doves and moving at high speeds. The apparitions were seen by millions of Egyptians and foreigners. Among the witnesses were Orthodox, Catholics, Protestants, Moslems, Jews and non-religious people from all walks of life. The sick were cured and blind persons received their sight, but most importantly large numbers of unbelievers were converted... The above two photos show luminous heavenly beings shaped like doves and flying over the church. These beings appeared from nowhere, did not flap their wings while flying at high speeds and disappeared as they came. The first photo shows seven of them in the formation of a cross. His Holiness Pope Kyrillos VI (Cyril VI) entrusted a committee of high rank priests and bishops to investigate the apparitions, and on Saturday, May 4, 1968, the Coptic Orthodox Church officially confirmed the apparitions after thorough investigation (see official report below). His Holiness Pope Kyrillos VI also assigned the responsibility of documenting the apparitions and accompanying miracles to a special committee headed by Anba Gregorios, bishop of postgraduate studies, Coptic culture and scientific research. ![]() |
I'm sorry. It's not in Peru. It's not in China. It's a silly episode from the original Star Trek. It's from that old TV show Time Tunnel(?). It might be from a bad movie but it doesn't actually exist! Shirley, you're not serious!!!!
