@MoTrauen: Perhaps the part you lived in was a bit more typical of the south than what I’m experiencing? My area is surprisingly progressive and one that, as an unabashed atheist, I find to be perfectly suitable. However, the experience is going to change from person to person. I’m sure we could find someone as adamantly dissatisfied with their experiences living in CA or VT as you are with yours in TN. Where were you living? I’d like to make sure to avoid that community if possible.

As for voting… Ha, well... now that his extramarital activities have come out, he might as well be the anti-christ. I don’t think any state would elect him. He’s toxic.

@Rick:  One might be able to find small enclaves in Knoxville, Nashville, or Memphis that are tolerable, but the rest of the state is irredeemably ignorant and intolerant.

@Rick:  What extramarital activities are you referring to?  I just did a search on Huckabee and could find nothing related to extramarital affairs except speculation that he would make them criminal again.

@MoTrauen: My only experience is with the middle TN region, so I can’t speak for the rest of the state. My personal experience with Nashville and the surrounding areas has been positive. I haven’t encountered any more intolerance here than I did while I was living in CA or MA. That’s not to say it doesn’t exist, but I’m sure if I went looking for such things outside of TN I could find them as readily elsewhere as I could within the state. Sorry for the confusion, I was referring to Schwarzenegger, not Huckabee. Huckabee should be considered toxic for other reasons… like the things he says.
