Dear Mr. Mohler,

Where in the Bible does it say that gay marriage is not acceptable? I am sure that you could find me several examples. I would like to provide you with some interesting scripture that has points I think you should follow as well.


Exodus 21:1-4 "If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing. If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself: if he were married, then his wife shall go out with him. If his master have given him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master's, and he shall go out by himself."
Deuteronomy 15:12-18 "And if thy brother, an Hebrew man, or an Hebrew woman, be sold unto thee, and serve thee six years; then in the seventh year thou shalt let him go free from thee. And when thou sendest him out free from thee, thou shalt not let him go away empty: Thou shalt furnish him liberally out of thy flock, and out of thy floor, and out of thy winepress: of that wherewith the Lord thy God hath blessed thee thou shalt give unto him."
Deuteronomy 20:14 "But the women, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city, even all the spoil thereof, shalt thou take unto thyself"

Clearly, you do not support slavery. However, the Bible CLEARLY supports slaves and rape, seeing that "the women... shalt thou take unto thyself." Let us continue to just one more example of holy scripture that you (hopefully) choose to ignore.

Hosea 13:16  "The people of Samaria must bear the consequences of their guilt because they rebelled against their God. They will be killed by an invading army, their little ones dashed to death against the ground, their pregnant women ripped open by swords."  

This should be self explanatory. Hopefully, you have never ripped open the pregnant bellies of non-believers and killed small children. I would also like to point out that this counts as abortion, so perhaps you should rethink your stance here as well.

My point is this: you, sir, hide behind a curtain of ignorance and homophobia and you call it the Bible.  You may spout your shit about how explicitly the bible condemns gays, but the truth of the matter is that you and Christians since the genesis of  Christianity have outright IGNORED parts of the bible that you deem as inherently evil.  You may say that parts of the bible are outdated or do not fit with modern society,  AND YET YOU, SIR, CHOOSE TO ACCEPT THE PARTS OF THE BIBLE CONDEMNING GAYS. Since you have demonstrated already that you have no issue not following parts of the bible, it seems to me that the ONLY REASON YOU CHOOSE TO OPPOSE GAY MARRIAGE IS YOUR OWN PERSONAL CONVICTIONS AGAINST HOMOSEXUALITY.  And, most disgustingly to me, you hide behind your Bible rather than showing why you truly hate gays.
I therefore offer you three choices:
1) Become an atheist. Join logic and scientific reason, not the propaganda and hatred spread by the Bible.
2) Follow ALL parts of the Bible, Including Exodus 35:2, which promotes KILLING those who work on the sabbath. I would imagine that, for you, this would involve committing suicide, but better to gouge out your eyes than gaze upon a woman lustfully, right? If you follow this option, you have every right to condemn gays in my mind. DO NOT, though, CONTINUE TO USE THE BIBLE AS YOUR EVIDENCE WHEN YOU IGNORE SO MUCH OF IT ALREADY. I'll come visit you in prison.
3) Grow some nuts, come out from behind your Bible, and show the world what you really are: a homophobic asshole who is too afraid to have the strength of his own convictions.
l look forward to hearing your response, which will hopefully inform me of how incredibly wrong I am.
