/rant Kirk Cameron & John McAuthor video

I ran across this video today. It is centered around Kirk Cameron telling his conversion story with commentary from John MacAuthur. This entire video is just filled with their typical delusional fantasies. Kirk Cameron sends the message of "Oh, Christians! We are so persecuted just like Jesus!" by saying "..but you come in and say that I'm a follower of Jesus Christ, born-again, all of the sudden, people wanna step 10 feet back and point their fingers at you." [6:10] If people are stepping back from Kirk, it's not because he's a Christian but it's the way he portrays himself as a Christian. I hate to break it to Kirk but a 10,000 year old Earth is not possible, humans coexisting with prehistoric dinosaurs is not possible, and a rainbow is not god's everlasting covenant with humanity. Saying things like this makes one look unintelligent, to say the least. So, yes, I can see why people, specially in Hollywood, would take a step back and point a finger or two. This does not mean that both parties aren't free to do so and it is in no way a form of persecution.

Then the finger is pointed toward the non-believers...Take it away John MacAuthur. .!

"The rejection of Christianity is not intellectual...There are endless reasons, logical reasons, to believe in the god of the scripture and the scripture that god has written. It's moral. They love the darkness because their deeds are evil not because they can't process it intellectually but because their deeds are evil and they cherish those." [7:40]

In other words, non-believers don't believe in god because we love our evil ways. Oh yeah, I'm so evil because I don't take my kid to church every Sunday and listen to a man talk about a book that most of the congregation has never even fully read and then throw a percentage of my weekly paycheck to him? Instead, during those hours, I take her to the park, museums, zoos, and aquariums to teach her real facts about our world?

So, what 'deeds' warrant the use of the word 'evil'? Murder, theft, rape, child molestation, fraud...but if I'm not mistaken, isn't there some correlation between lower education & the willingness to commit crime? Isn't there also some correlation between religiosity and lower education? Isn't there also statistics that show Christians are the overwhelmingly majority of the prison population and atheists are less than 1%?

Turning the tables of John MacAuthur's statement makes the view up to par with reality:

The acceptance of Christianity is not intellectual. There are endless reasons, logical reasons, to not believe in the god of the scripture and the scripture was not written by god. It's moral not to believe in the god of the scripture. The Christians love their darkness because their deeds are evil not because they can't process it intellectually but because their deeds are evil and they CHERISH those.

Here's the video if you feel like sitting through it. ^_^

You know I have to say I admire Kirk Cameron.  Yes of course he's a brainwashed religious fundie.  But I respect him because he is trying his best to live a religious life in profession that doesn't usually take kindly to that sort of religiosity.  I can't stand the people that claim to believe in some obscure God for the sake of feeling good about themselves.  They are right, these buffet believers these days only take what they want from whatever they like.

i'm curious about this "less than 1% of atheists are in prison" statistic. can anyone point me to a source so that i may educate myself?

@Araina-Fundamentalist Christians do follow the Bible more precisely than the mainstream. Yet, their beliefs are bizarre and extremely far fetched. Kirk knew what he was getting himself into when he began staring in Christian related films. He had to have known that by doing so he would lose his appeal to the mainstream. Though I see where you are coming from, I see no reason for myself to admire Kirk Cameron.

@Cody- Here's a good link...http://www.atheistempire.com/reference/stats/main.html ..there are plenty more out there. Google: "atheist prison population" :)

Jack-They all sound the same, don't they? Eventually, they all just blend together with the same old arguments and the same old 'rebuttals'.
