Oh! Santa Sangre... how could I have forgotten that!

 

I do not think Wings of Desire was dark... just pensive and full of the play of light and shadow. I also thought of that somewhat creepy song about the carny with the dead horse and whatnot.

 

There are so many that others have reminded me of and several more have come to my mind. I thought of Kissed, Nightwatch, Parents, Ingmar Bergman films... yes. Do start another list please.

If you want nihilistic, then I would suggest "Baise Moi," "Martyrs" and "Srpski film" a.k.a. "Serbian Film."

 

I only am suggesting them, I am not recommending them. Well, maybe "Martyrs." But definitely not "Serbian Film." "Serbian Film" is the film you use to test your morals. It has the potential to wreck you for days after you watch it. "Baise Moi" blurs the line between art, storytelling and pornography.

 

Also, "Irreversible" is pretty "unordinary" and un-Hollywood-like.

Forgot about Santa Sangre, but I like Holy Mountain more...

@Bricklemyer, you should watch Der Siebente Kontinent if you like nihilistic films from my list

To bad he doesn't make films any more, and to bad he never finished Abelcain....has anyone watched Rainbow Thief, because I never found that film?
