I find it hard to believe that atheists have been kicked off of FB simply because they share their views. I am pretty outspoken about my atheism on FB (even my current status is an atheist quote), and have had no problems - and I have quite a few fundie xians as friends.

Are the atheists that are being kicked off being aggressive or abusive? I could see that happening, as we do have our own flavor of fundamentalists in our ranks as well; but outside of that, I just don't think people would be kicked simply for stating their beliefs.

BTW, I'm going the opposite way - I am tending to do my posts on my FB page instead of my blog. Just much more convenient for me.

I do know that if you get a large number of complaints about your posts then Facebook will close your account. I post to Xtian boards all the time and have yet to be banned. I keep my comments to the point and i never down talk the populace or insult them directly.

Wow thats new to me, atheist being kicked off FB for their views......I post all my religious and political views and have never had a problem.

Yeah, I doubt anyone is getting kicked off FB for expressing their opinions, regardless of what they are. Now, people who are being abusive and antagonistic to others and are having complaints filed against them I can see being given the boot. I personally don't use FB as a soapbox but to keep in touch with people, meet people, network and learn new things.

Even if it wasn't for some people supposedly getting kicked off of facebook. I still wouldn't go there, I was just getting tired of facebook, mainly cause I wasn't really doing anything on there anyways.

I am living proof that atheists get kicked off Facebook.

 

I only ever posted on the Atheism page (regularly trolled by True Believers), was never obscene or antagonistic but I can only imagine that some of the faithful rallied together to mark my posts as "offensive".  I lost so much.... photos, family posts and worst of all, everything I had written in tribute to a close friend who died.

The objection procedure is completely opaque and utterly heartless.

I set up another account but I'm very wary now.

 

It's real.  Beware.
