For one who doesn't want to argue about this in these comments, you sure go out of your way to expand the argument in these comments.

Unfortunately, I'm not biting. IMO, you did not address my substantive point. You keep taking the focus back to McGrath, when the substantive point I made was in regards to your action of linking to his post uncritically. That's it. The rest is the scent of a red herring.

""I pointed out McGrath being a committed Christian not as an attack on him, but to identify why I thought the linking to him was uncritical."
so you'd have wanted me to post the link with a note saying "watch out, he's a Christian!"?
LOL. that's another fallacy: poisoning the well!"

No. See, this is again you shifting the focus to McGrath, and ignoring that my statement was about the uncritical linkage. It is not poisoning the well, because I'm not arguing that McGrath is necessarily wrong. I'm arguing that your linking to him was uncritical. Why uncritical? Because I saw a bias, which it appeared that you did not (and have since confirmed, IMO). Why biased? Because he presented a straw man (as I explained in my very first post). What may be the source of the bias? I implicitly speculated that perhaps it may have been that he's a committed Christian. Is this genetic fallacy? No, because I saw the bias first, and speculated the source second. Nor did I claim that the possible source of bias is the justification for my claim of bias (instead, I described the straw manning and provided a link to resources debunking the straw man). Is it poisoning the well? No, because my point is not about McGrath per se, it's about the uncritical linkage.

You interpreted that original post in the opposite order: "Ah, he's a Christian. Therefore he must be biased. Therefore, your link is uncritical." When I corrected your misinterpretation, you simply shifted it back to McGrath, ignoring my substantive point.

In any case, I've re-iterated my point enough. If anyone cares to re-read my first comment, they'll see it is brief and speaks only about McGrath in order to support the main point that your linkage was uncritical.

The debate/discussion you appear to want to engage in with me is not one that interests me. I'm a spectator in the mythicist debate. I leave it to the people who've done the reading, and I read their digested opinions. Having read some of them, I feel it's fair for me to speak up when someone mischaracterizes the opinions that I've read, and when someone else (especially an atheist, posting a bulletin for other atheists who may not be as familiar with the issue) posts an uncritical link to it. In fact, I feel it's important to do so.

If you're interested in debate/discussion, the person you want to engage with has already responded to McGrath here: James on Jesus: Reopening Pandora’s Box. He will give you a very vigourous debate. Enjoy.
