Hello Think Atheist.

My name is Charlie, and I have been on the site more off than on over the past couple of years. This is actually my first little blog post on this site. I am just going to take the time to tell you guys a little about myself, and give you an insight into my further writings. I want to try to be more active here on this website.

Anyways, as I had already stated, my name is Charlie. At the time of writing, I am 18 years old -turning 19 in March. I am a college student at Middle Georgia State College, at the Macon, Ga. campus. Macon is where I have been born in raised, with very subtle exceptions. I hate it. I plan on moving after this semester, though I wish I could take my college with me. I am currently in General Studies, and not sure if I want to study English or science, or go learn another language. I guess I will figure that out when I get there.

I do a variety of things. I have been playing the guitar for five years this May. I have been practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for a year and a half, and kickboxing for eight months. I love martial arts and the UFC; my favorite fighters are Alistair Overeem and Joe Lauzon. Since we have a lot of pool tables, I have started trying to get good at playing billiards. I love poetry, and I try to write it. I can write twenty poems in a week, or write one in a two month span. It comes to me in spurts. I also started avidly lifting weights around three months ago.

Since this is a religion - or religion-less in this case -, I figure that I should mention I am an atheist. I became an atheist around three years ago, during my tenth grade year in high school. I spent four years in a private, Baptist school, so I definitely know Christianity, and know enough about religion to know that I don't want any part of it. Despite my lack of religion, I align myself philosophically with Buddhist principles. It is a great system to follow by, if you don't know much about it, I encourage you try to find out a little more. Don't ask me! Everything I have learned is from reading and online! I will point you in the direction of Shinzen Young.

I have a ton of goals over the next several years of my life. A lot of them are crazy ones; some goals are not so much. I want to go skydiving. I want to hike the entire Appalachian Trail. I want to earn my college degree. I want to earn towards my black belt in BJJ, with the goal of having black by the time I am 30. I want to fight in a cage, at least once. I want to buy a motorcycle and drive it everywhere. I want to backpack around Europe. Monotonous list, I know, but I think these are good to keep in mind if you continue to read my future posts.

That is a little bit about me! I hope you feel adequately informed about who I am and what I do in a nutshell. I try to be really open, so if you want to talk, just message me on here. I will get back to you as soon as possible. I love to converse with people, and if you live nearby in Ga., I would love to meet up with you over coffee or lunch. Ladies, I'm single. :)

Love and strength your way,

Welcome to TA.  How wonderful that you are young, atheist and full of a passion for life.  A zest, if you will.  It is absolutely delightful to be reassured that the youth of today do not have to feel quashed by the religious nonsense they may be preached in school.  Good on you :)
