You know who I feel sorry for? The kids...

... of people who think that naming them after religious ideas is clever and will help them. NO! Take my brother's best friend for instance. He and his girlfriend got pregnant at a fairly young age (well 21 isn't THAT young I suppose - but I'm 28 and I still think I'm too young). Now, I'd like to think that in this day and age, you would understand how a child can be ridiculed for a name it seems their parents chose while high. They decided to name her Nevaeh. Yes, that's HEAVEN spelled backwards. When my mom and I found out I think we both had the same disbelief in our faces. "What? Are they fucking crazy?" Now, my mother believes in skyguy and even SHE thought that was absolutely ridiculous.

So, I actually went and looked up the statistics on this because I had never heard of it before. I thought it was slightly clever because the sound of it isn't unappealing phonetically, just the definition. WOW! Do you know that Nevaeh is in the top 50 names for baby girls in the US? It hit 34 just last year.

I feel terrible for any kid that has a shitty name to begin with, but that's like my naming my kid Nrocinu. Whatever happened to James? Anna? Elizabeth? Nicholas? You should not be allowed to procreate if you insist on giving your kid a shitty start before they're even born.

I hope all the Nevaeh's of the world turn out to be staunch Atheists... just to smite their jackass parents.

LOL! hehe... "Skyguy" is what Ahsoka Tano calls Anakin Skywalker in the Clone Wars :-D

I've never heard the name "Nevaeh" before - and it's number 34? guess we'll be hearing that name a lot more soon enough

maybe all these crazy names are a good thing, perhaps if everyone has a bizarre name everyone will start getting used to them and the ridiculing over somebody's name will eventually disappear?

I'd rank that just slightly above Prince Michael and Prince Michael II.

Hey... try being named 'Misty' in Scotland! Sooo many people have said "well, that's pretty, dear. Now what's your REAL name?" All I can do is tell them my parents were hippies.....

And I thought Nevaeh was just a stage name for strippers!

I've never understood giving kids outrageous names either. If you want to be different, fine. But there's no need to go inventing words... I'm a fan of classic names and would actually name kids after historical figures, were I to have any.

I really love the rather outrageous name of Rylander for a girl (yes, I made that up.) Alas, I shall not reproduce, so the name will have to be a character in one of my books.

I like places for names, too... but not for girls, for some reason. Cypress for a boy sounds nice to me.

My friend just named his baby girl Rownen...I really like that, too! Ro for short! I <3 little tomboy nicknames for girls.

And I thought naming your kids after obscure bible names was bad.

I knew some girls named Angel and Precious. They sure got teased a lot in school. They actually swore to get their names changed once they grew up. makes me wonder if they ever did or learned to live with it lol. Just shows parents can be pretty damn selfish.
