So who or what created the universe?

Is there anyone who doesn't ask this question? If not, why not? I'm pretty confident that any thinker has pondered this. Hmmm... why is this such a concern of ours? Why is this question in our mind? Why were we not content with just being? You know, as in the earth was always here.

Well, regardless, we asked.

Science is now telling us that the universe came into existence when a primordial start of elemental condition started to expand. Which still begs the question, "where did that came from?" It's difficult to imagine nothing into something; it just doesn't make sense. We are always going to be asking, "where did that come from?"

Creationist on the other hand have decided a source. Whichever god they choose has just always been there. But just as the previous theory, there isn't quite a satisfaction. You can argue recursive creation for both, but then you are left with option 3: the universe has always been here.

But again, if you say that, why can't you say "God has always been here," or "the elements have always been there."

So, we are trying to pinpoint this beginning and are using the same arguments on each other as if they are irrelevant to our own theory.

There must have been something that started it all. Either the elements existed forever or a creator. So now we have to chose which we like better.

Which do you find more logical: something/someone has always been, or nothing turning into something?

Michael, wouldn't having prophetic dreams make you a witch?

Though shalt not suffer a witch to live

Uh oh...

@James Cox

We could create a whole new zodiac: Obnoxious/Sarcastic, Ambivalent, Certain, Cautious, Courious, Pushy, Orthogonal/oppositional,  yadayada...

With all new, more relatable constellations, too. The Pitbull, The Barista, The Wide Receiver, The Cheeseburger...

@archaeopteryx

What, they didn't have a sign for obnoxious?

They did, but The Archaeopteryx was already taken by someone.

@Zia

It must take an idiot to believe in religious BS. If you had spent time reading you'd have discovered somewhere along the line that Adam, Noah, Jesus and so on are mythical persons. They didn't exist. So, for one to be a true muslim, he/she must also be a true idiot! No pun intended.

I think I was not very clear in my explanation of dismissing Hart. A guy who claims Noah was an influnetial person or Moses has no credential as a historian. You dismiss Spencer but I doubt you have read the book he has written! Find time, get the book and read it.

You say, If one agrees that there is only One true God and Muhammad is the true Prophet of God, then that implies accepting all the teachings of Islam. If we agree that this religion is divine then we accept and submit to it wholeheartedly. Why should anyone accept this to be true? I have asked does your god prefer to appear only to illiterates who their existence is questionable?

At the moment, I don't have time to go through the ebook.

After Jesus, God’s final message for the guidance of mankind was revealed to Prophet Muhammad. It is now imperative for everyone to believe and follow the final message from God. No it's not!

We have to be wise and use our judgment as to how we process that  information. As I mentioned before, we have to honestly weight the evidences and make an informed judgment. This forms part of the response to Archy, my problem is you don't seem to have done this yourself.

Here is something that you might find interesting.

On a different note, you are a lucky guy, you have several guys spending their time just answering your questions, doing research for you!

Sounds like a lot of violent bashing on historical documents than proving of unrealistic theories here to me..

Comment by archaeopteryx on September 5, 2012 at 11:04am

Which historical documents would that be?

Interestingly, I was just in communication with Anna Silva on another site, and she mentioned that exact phrase, "historical documents" - you two know each other?

The Iliad is also an "historical document," but I'm not about to pray to Athena to deliver me from evil and expect her to do something.

@onyango-

I think you have made your point amply clear and I've made mine. My response to your comments, would unnecessarily be dragging the discussion further. And I don't wish to do that.

"On a different note, you are a lucky guy, you have several guys spending their time just answering your questions, doing research for you! "

I don't remember asking even a single question on here. I was being asked questions, and as anybody else would, I was responding to what I believe to be the truth.

@Arch-

This was my first time on an atheist blog and it was a good learning experience. I will be unfollowing from today. I wish for myself first and others, that we all remain sincere in searching for the correct answers.
