Comment by Mabel on May 10, 2012 at 6:45pm How did you maintain your cool like that? Such level headed responses to such outrageous stupidity. You have the patience of a (saint) lol.
Comment by Cristynfaye on May 11, 2012 at 1:23am You could hit him with 1 Corinthians:
9 I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— 10 not at all meaningthe sexually immoral of this world, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. 11 But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler—not even to eat with such a one. 12 For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church[b] whom you are to judge? 13 God judges[c] those outside. “Purge the evil person from among you.”
So basically it says that Christians have no business judging those outside of the church in matters of sexual immorality, but those who call themselves "brother" (Christians), who go on behaving badly, you must purge them from the church. Basically, don't judge non christians, only judge other Christians. This applies to making governmental laws that include people of many belief systems.

Pretty much the center of any Christian argument.
Comment by Michael on May 11, 2012 at 6:46am These people all fall back on the bible to support their premise that homosexuality is evil, yet if you point out that wearing cotton and linen, planting two seeds in one hole, or eating shellfish is also an abomination they either clam up or come up with some amazing rationalizations, usually the latter. In the early Hebrew culture anything that would not advance their small population was considered an abomination. They fail to take that word and the scriptures in the context of the time.
They obviously do not hold these opinions because of what the bible says. It is breathtakingly obvious, to me at least, that they hold these beliefs as a result of their own personal bigotry and use the bible as a cover for it.
Comment by Suzanne Olson-Hyde on May 11, 2012 at 6:48am There are millions starving, babies dying, loony tunes running around saying don't get inoculated, and they are worried about this - good on Obama.
I really don't get peoples problem with gays getting married - I used to be married, gave that up and never again. If anyone wants to go down that path, good luck to them.
Comment by Bev Walker on May 11, 2012 at 9:40am Excellent, calm, rational arguments in the face of deluded nonsense! Well done you!!

Gotta admit, it would be hard to take the high road and NOT start listing all the instances where "Christians" murdered the shit out of people...
