My definition of Easter would be a superstitious ritual that has no place in modern times. Whats your definition?

What? Doesn't everyone love the story of horrible torture and the rising of the first vampire three days later? Such stories are ever so marketable to kids.

On a more serious note, I think the chocolate bunnies are so appropriate and representative of easter: low grade and hollow. Although you can make a case for the peeps too: colorful but only contain sweet fluff devoid of anything substantial.

A thought for you on "good friday" (aside from wondering how a day celebrating torture is 'good'): if the Romans method of torturous death had been the stake (like Vlad the Impaler) instead of the cross, would men and women who take it up the butt have been considered closer to Jesus?

I know these were naughty comments/questions but I just can't bring myself to delete them on my own initiative.

It's that time of year when coworkers say "have a nice Easter" before the weekend and then afterwards ask "how was your Easter?"

As with all holidays they were stolen by the church, so I believe they can be recovered.  Give us back our pagan Easter.  I think they used to wear their best clothes so they could pick each other up (loosely paraphrased).  A celebration of Spring!  Which I do by planting a bunch bushes/trees and stuffing myself on Whopper Eggs!

I used to love it when my rabbi asked christians: how did you turn the passover lamb into the easter ham?

That's funny right there...

I also get sent a chocolate bunny from my mom in Germany. That is about the extent of the holiday for me.

Rotten eggs that i forgot where i hid them found sometime in july by accident, hollow chocolate that tastes even worse then hersheys, and that annoying green grass everywhere.

The highlight though is marshmallow peep torture a classic web craze long before meme was a thing.

I agree with Gininitaly, a nice festival celebrating Spring, just as Christmas is a lovely winter Solstice celebration, not to mention Jimmy Buffett's ACTUAL birthday! :-)
