This is just a part of some comments he made in regards to what he sees as an attack on the U.S. by Satan. He goes after higher education first then goes on from there to churches and government..I think it's a prime example of just how he wants to undermine education in the U.S.

"This is not a political war at all. This is not a cultural war at all. This is a spiritual war. And the father of lies has his sights on what you would think the father of lies, Satan, would have his sights on. A good, decent, powerful, influential country -- the United States of America. If you were Satan, who would you attack in this day and age? There is no one else to go after, other than the United States. And that’s been the case for now almost 200 years, once America’s preeminence was sown by our great founding fathers.

He didn’t have much success in the early days. Our foundation was very strong, in fact is very strong. But over time that great, acidic quality of time corrodes away even the strongest foundations. And Satan has done so by attacking the great institutions of America, using those great vices of pride, vanity and sensuality as the route to attack all of these strong plants that have so deeply rooted in American tradition. He was successful. He attacks all of us and he attacks all of our institutions.

The place where he was, in my mind, the most successful and first -- first successful was in academia. He understood pride of smart people. He attacked them at their weakest. They were in fact smarter than everybody else and could come up with something new and different -- pursue new truths, deny the existence of truth, play with it because they’re smart. And so academia a long time ago fell."

If you ask me. I think he's just insane across the board.

Yep. Believing in good and evil as general categories is one thing. I don't really like the terminology much, but I'm not against the basic idea. But anyone who literally believes in Satan as a real being is mentally insane. They are also polytheists

What was that thing that Jefferson instilled? oh yeah, speration between church and state.

A public office is no place for personal opinion.

Enough people in the U.S, understand the reason for a separation of church and state. They also understand this isn't a Christian nation..and they know just how far over the edge Santorum is.

BARKING BLOODY CRAZY ! His utter ignorance astounds me (well probably not as much as it should actually). The emergence of the USA as the world's richest and most powerful nations would have been impossible without the spread of government funded and regulated education to raise the skill levels and value of its workers. For this head-up-his-ass idiot to yearn for the days before public education became a reality is to yearn for an America that still hung people for witchcraft. Is Santorum opposed to knowledge itself, is ignorance part of the Republican long term aims for america? Does he really think that every other nation on the planet with public education systems, which is to say all developed countries, have got it wrong and are infected by "satan" ?

This guy is a major presidential candidate ? In a way I hope he does get in because he will be a gift to all the other economies of the world because he will well and truly stuff the US into the toilet and let everyone else pull ahead. On the other hand no nation is more dangerous than one that realises its screwed and two years in a Santorum rule the US would be.

On top of all that, the thought of Santorum in charge of our health care is frightening--instead of forcing the RC church to pay for abortions and contraception, he could require that NOBODY cover them.  At that point he wouldn't need to get Roe v. Wade overturned. (toward the bottom)

Might be time to reorganise north America for good.... California and the few other sane states become part of the United States of Canada, the rest can become Jesusland. (Look up NOFX - Jesusland for a nice song and map)
