So I have been busy at work and I tell myself, "I NEED A BREAK!" I quit what I am doing and log into my personal computer and I visit TA to lurk around and read. Today I am just impressed with the updates to Think Atheist. I love the new textured background! Keep up the great work and keeping me sane in this crazy crazy world of ours.
So I have been on Think Atheist for ever, and I if you don't already know this, I take care of my Grandmother 24/7. One of the things she had me do last week was help update her will. So it got me thinking! With how much I love this site (read my past blogs) and how much it has kept me from not going crazy with all the religious bullshit I see and deal with every day, I have decided to donate 20% of all my earnings to Think Atheist when I pass. In hope to further the reach of the sites…
A friend just posted this on FB and I thought I would share here.
Muslims are all terrorists, homosexuals are deviants, Planned Parenthood encourages child prostitution, Israel has never done anything wrong in history, NPR is the propaganda mouthpiece of George Soros, having an education is elitist, incarcerating a drugs addict for twenty years is the most effective form of treatment, Mr. Rogers ruined our generation because he made us feel loved, the only real Americans are…
I really am glad to have a site like this to meet so many people. I am surrounded by religious people all day and all night, and it IS SUCH a breathe of FRESH AIR to talk to people that understand you! I guess you could say I have lost a little faith in humanity in real life but online on here makes me feel a little better about it. :)
1. No cost controls on insurance companies. The coming sharp increases in premiums, deductibles, co-pays, co-insurance, etc. will quickly outpace any projected protections from caps on out-of-pocket costs.
WTF
2. Insurance companies will continue to be able to use marketing… Continue
As you may know, right-wing talk show hosts have been bringing race-based fear mongering into the mainstream, but FOX's Glenn Beck just took it to another level. On Tuesday, Beck said:
This president has exposed himself as a guy over and over and over again who has a deep-seated hatred for white people... this guy is, I believe, a racist.
It's part of a larger argument Beck has been making: that President… Continue

The percentage of self-identified Christians has fallen 10 points in the past two decades. How that statistic explains who we are now—and what, as a nation, we are about to become.
It was a small detail, a point of comparison buried in the fifth paragraph on the 17th page of a 24-page summary of the 2009 American Religious Identification Survey. But as R. Albert Mohler Jr.—president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, one of the largest on earth—read over the… Continue
I still get a tingly feeling that I am on a internet site that has smart people... Thanks everyone for making this site such a great little corner of the web for me to breathe! (and I still feel tingly that there are really great people out there!)
THANKS!
Science rules!

PS Oh & there is no weird people that I have to deal with on here! (creeps)
Whenever there's a tragedy, there's always some asshole saying God is punishing us for doing x. Example, here's Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson blaming 9/11 on the ACLU, gays, and atheists (among others). He's also said Hurricane Katrina happened because God's mad at how often we abort babies. But these people strangely silent whenever anything God lets bad things happen to people they've exalted as good. If the crazies say God makes bad things happen to bad people as punishment, then they must… Continue
This last Sunday (03/29/2009) Brian Griffin, the dog from the cartoon Family Guy, came out to his family that he was an atheist. (Episode Not All Dogs Go To Heaven available here on Hulu - That link no longer works, they were asked to remove that episode for some reason) The atheosphere has been chattering about this like crazy since then. Half of all the tweets I saw on Twitter that night were about it. The show did a good thing in showing how much discrimination a person can… Continue
When Atheists point out immoral acts in the Bible, you like to say that they are being taken out of context, and the entire passage, or entire book, or the times should be taken into account.
Intersting that you suddenly see shades of gray when the Bible is held up to scrutiny, but can't see them when talking about human beings. You never want to consider the context of a person's reasons for being gay, or that they may have a valid reason to… Continue
The vast majority of Christians and Jews have never read the bible.
Religion for most people is basically an identity system, not a belief system. You are almost always the same religion as your parents. You don't choose a religion. So rejecting your religion is like rejecting your family, or your tribe.
And since most people know almost nothing about their religion, they defer to so-called experts and leaders who claim knowledge… Continue

Official says church's stance in Brazilian rape case 'lacked mercy'
A senior Vatican official has criticized the excommunication of a Brazilian woman whose nine-year-old daughter had an abortion after being raped, as well as the medical team who performed it.
"Before thinking about an excommunication it was necessary and urgent to save the innocent life" of the girl "to bring her back to a level of humanity of which clerics should be the experts and master," said Rino… Continue
Pope Benedict's repeated gaffes and the Vatican's inability to manage his message in the internet era are threatening to undermine his papacy, Vatican insiders have said.
The Holy See is struggling to contain international anger over the Pope's claim on his first official visit to Africa that Aids "cannot be overcome through the distribution of condoms, which even aggravates the problems".
The Pope's remarks about condoms, and a recent… Continue
A proposal driven through by the Arabic block in the UN to make ”defamation of religion” forbidden by the United Nations has been quietly dropped from the menu of the forthcoming anti-racism conference. This is a clear-cut victory for all humanist, secularist and rationalist forces in the world. Accepting the original proposal would have made life more difficult for all non-religious people in the future, as any critique of the religions could have been… Continue
