My Evangelical Parents Respond To My Atheism

I am a product of the evangelical right. My childhood was a uniquely American experience filled with good ol' midwestern values, Elvis on the reel-to-reel, and an abiding love for Jesus. My parents thought Carl Sagan was a tool of the Devil (possibly the Anti-christ himself!) and that computer technology was something to fear. Our Desire for Immortality is Killing Us

Our desire for immortality is killing us. We selfishly cling to the comfort of mythology at the expense of the real world. This must change. Yet we continue to sacrifice the substance of this life at the alter of faith in the afterlife, and we call this foolishness "holy"! How many billions of lives are our bronze-age beliefs worth?
