Re-Blog - Free Harvard Course on Justice

Michael Sandel’s course at Harvard, “Justice,” is enormously popular, and is highlighted in today’s New York Times. The course is now being made free online, and can be found here.… Continue

Forced Vaccinations By Homicidal Police! Oh Noes!

On another forum someone had posted a video clip culled from the fine journalistic minds of FOX News.

Here is the description and then please watch the video before proceeding. It is short, I assure you.

Video Description: "Judge Andrew Napolitano comments on the completely unconstitutional bill in Massachusetts that will allow the governor to declare an emergency and “allow” police to force their way into your homes to vaccinate you. As Gerald Celente has…

Quick Thought: The Evolution of Religion?

Religion is like many other quack beliefs except that there was a random mutation that allowed it to spread and become dominant in the population. These mutations allowed for indoctrination, proselytizing, promises of eternal bliss, threats of eternal torment, group think, indoctrination (oh, did I say that already?), and many other techniques that lead to a resounding success.

However, religion has met it's superior. Critical thinking. Science. Skepticism. These are techniques,… Continue

The Greatest Delivery on Earth

Okay, so I admit that the title is a bit hyberbolic, but I am excited enough to receive my copy of Richard Dawkins' The Greatest Show on Earth to post about it. The Facebook High Road

The Facebook high road is hard to take, especially for an aging hockey player who lived for the fights and the competition. Perhaps this is why I will visit this misery upon the dear members of Think Atheist. I need to vent.

I don't normally entangle myself in Facebook political or religious drama. I do have conservative friends that I exchange friendly debates with, however. One happens to be on Facebook and he comments on my posts and so I feel free to return the favor. Mostly, it… Continue

Irrational Fear of "The Messiah"

The President of the United States is set to give a speech that will be broadcast in schools but is not mandatory. The message is supposed to be about staying in school and achieving goals in life. Sounds positive and rather innocuous, don't you think?

"Thinking about my kids in school having to listen to that just really upsets me," suburban Colorado mother Shanneen Barron told CNN Denver affiliate KMGH. "I'm an American. They are Americans, and I don't feel that's OK. I feel… Continue

Re-Blog: reversing pascal’s wager

From Greg Fish at World of Weird Things -

According to religious fundamentalists in the U.S., this world is infested with dark, alluring, sinful temptations which exist solely to condemn our souls to Hell. Doubt and skepticism, unwed consenting adults having sex without guilt or shame, using science to shine a light on how the universe came to be without resorting to a supernatural placeholder, and spiritual musings that… Continue
