The Poet's Coroner: I Will Not Drink the Blood of a Fool

i will not drink the blood of a fool

when the glory of the lord shall shine

and blind men to his crimes

as the lies that he had promised me

would nail me to his tree

when all the angels in the dark

would brand me with the devil’s mark

i’d curse and cry with my last breath

‘i’ve still a half a bottle left!’

leave me alone, save someone else

i love my sinful, wicked self

take off of me this pit bull’s leash

save it for a…

Atheist Eulogy

My mother's funeral is Wednesday, 4/23/2014 and I'll be giving at least a part of the eulogy.

A little help here...and maybe an opportunity for discussion in general on the subject.

What is an 'Atheist Eulogy'?  What can my differing view of death bring to the table at a Wake?

I know it is totally inappropriate for me to try and convert the audience...I just wish Christians would give me the same respect.  Having God on your side is no excuse for being rude...but then,…

Dead man's Switch

Dead man’s Switch

i had a dollar in my pocket

at least, i did before i spent it

on some trinket or some locket

that now is lost and i resent it

there is nothing quite as gone

as a dollar when it’s spent

nothing leaves you as alone

wondering where the dollar went

a dollar anticipated

is a great treasure for a man

but a dollar dissipated

grates on your soul like sand

to owe a dollar to another

is a dollar spent on guilt

a…

I am tired

I write a lot of these posts before I go to bed at night so if they seem disjointed it's because I'm sleepy and working on a beer buzz.  Just up front about that.

My mother is in a nursing home.  She came close to dying this past week, and may still die, but right now she's alert enough to make her own decisions so I'm out of the loop as far as deciding for her.  She still needs to be in a assisted care facility but it doesn't look much like I have much input into the…

Infection

From 1990 to 2000 I was a Neo-Pagan.

During this period I was a Rune Caster.  I created my own Runes...any Witch must create their own tools...Aleister Crowley, the self proclaims 666 Antichrist...through the Golden Dawn sect of the early 19th Century...taught that every practitioner had to create their own set of Tarot Cards...the divination, oracle function of the Witch, whether Gardnerian or Buckley breed, had to create their own sacred tools.

This extended from the…

Atheists response to dying

I have two people dying in my life.

One is my brother-in-law who is finally paying the piper for a life spent in disregard for the future.  Liver failure and the shutting down of all the processes of the body as alcoholism takes it toll.

The other is my Mother who is lying in the hospital tonight.  She's confused and frightened and all she can say, over and over again, is "heaven and hell"  or is it "heaven or hell", it's hard to tell.

My brother-in-law is a Jehovah's…
