Grinch Alert claims any business that acknowledges the existence of non-Christian religions is 'naughty'

I saw a news story tonight on a web site that puts businesses on the 'naughty' list for saying things like Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas.
This site makes the assertion that if you so much as acknowledge the existence of religious holidays in December and non-religious holidays for that matter (like new year's), then you are somehow attacking Christianity. By simply not discriminating against…

Jesus! F*^K YEAH!

Every time I see the "Jesus fish" alpha symbol on a car or in a business logo, it makes me sad. I remember when this 'fish' always had WWJD in it. It's a question atheists have been trying to get Christians to ask themselves forever. What WOULD Jesus Do? It was at least thought provoking.
Now, we have the empty alpha/fish. Symbolically, more accurate (empty) but no longer thought-provoking. It has gone in a very short time from "hey, think about what you think Jesus stood for an try to…

Symphony of Science

I was listening to the Symphony of Science songs recently and I have a particular line stuck in my head.

"The beauty of a living thing is not the atoms that go into it, but the way those atoms are put together."

Sometimes, a phrase runs you over like a truck. Maybe this one didn't do it for anyone else, but for me, thinking about exactly what was meant was fairly intense.

The way those atoms are put together initially…

Rationality Win!!!

I was reading FMyLife today and ran across this little gem... thought I'd share:

"Today, after church, my 5-year-old son asked me about God, so I answered his questions in full. We talked about God for over 2 hours. At the end of it all, he pondered for a moment, before saying to me "That's the stupidest thing I ever heard. You're dumb." FML"

The Atheist God

There are times when i want to say that there is a god. Don't get all disappointed just yet; here's what I mean.

God is not some omnipotent being that lives in the sky and knows ahead of time which of us he's going to punish. He didn't create the universe. He doesn't interfere with our lives with his noodley appendages, but he is real. God is a concept. God is a concept created by humans. God is what humans inserted into the unknown to explain it. God is what humans have…

Origin of Species...

Credit: Origin of Species by MC Frontalot

I think there's a reason I tend to identify more with IT professionals than I do with mechanical engineers. *sigh* IT professionals tend to be (for the most part) more free thinking individuals. So forced into logical thinking and creativity purely to do their jobs are they, that they…

From a place of ignorance...

Church Sign Fail

It never ceases to amaze me how the faithful can be completely against a concept that they clearly don't comprehend. It shouldn't, but it does.
I don't even know where to begin with this one. One who refuses to be a slave is a slave as a result? It blatantly asks everyone not to think! This is clearly why theists have such trouble when it is challenged to question the obvious problems with their talking points. They are taught that thinking is bad and…

Government doesn't acknowledge that it steps on many people's first amendment rights.

Below are some examples of money, or a pledge that illustrate how explicitly unconstitutional the current state of each is. Imagine the outrage if the pledge or money were adorned suddenly with new wording.

On Money:

In Allah we trust.

In Buddha we trust.

We trust that gods don't exist.

The pledge:

I pledge allegiance to the flag... one nation, without gods, indivisible...

... one nation, bless'ed be, indivisible...

... one… Continue
