To my American friends: You're kinda F-you-see-k-e-dee

So I just read on several tech-news sites that the US government is implementing a unique internet ID for every resident. Gary Locke, the US Commerce Secretary said that the system would

not be akin to a national ID card, or a government controlled system, but that it would enhance security and reduce the need for people to memorize…

How should I label this?

My mom works at a nursing home caring for seniors. She works in a diverse environment- ethnically and culturally. Although she is excellent at her job, her English isn't very good and she does not know how to use the computer. So what she does is whenever she is asked for an email address, she provides mine and I'm perfectly fine with it- so long as they don't spam me and especially so if they do not spam with me religious bullshit.

But it finally…

Apartheid and Racism in Hinduism

Many westerners have a romantic view of India and other Hindu countries as the magical land of Maharajas and festivals and colour and ancient castles where Hinduism flourished. A strong association with Yoga and healthy eating also goes a long way in ensuring Hinduism as a religion (or a way of life as it is advertised these days) of joy, harmony and kinship with nature.

But it is a religion nonetheless and since the number of Hindus around the world is increasing with India becoming… Continue

Reason to care # 314,159,265

With the passage of the US health care bill being hailed as a landmark victory for Obama, I think it might be appropriate to get the opinions of the baby-killers among us who see the glaring hypocrisy in this bill.

As most of you already know, this bill hinges on the promise Obama made that abortion will NOT be covered. Keeping to the central theme of this website (and not even going into the details of how the health care issue even came into public discourse), I find it highly… Continue

Pro-choice, condoms and me

So I was heading to my part-time job today and I was running a bit late.

On my way towards the campus bus stop, I saw that Campus Pro-Lifers had their gruesome posters up (you know, the ones with dead fetuses and all that...). Next to them were campus pro-choice- a civilized bunch who were simply dissing the living jesus out of those low-lifers. With Christ and all that crap, the low-life pro-life bunch had put on quite the gong show.

So I dashed by and I quickly yelled "You… Continue

On being a vegetarian

It seems like I may have given the wrong impression with my views on vegetarianism.

I haven't seen anyone eat meat in my life. Think about it. How many of you actually eat raw beef? Sushi may come close to it but that's still processed. Once something is processed it is not meat any more. It's a commodity- much like potato chips.

Animals don't go around killing each other just because one has more spots or stripes than the other. Carnivores don't kill more than what is… Continue

Where DO we get our morality from?

Definitely not the religious books- not me.

So then why do I have compassion? Why is it that the majority of the people around me are compassionate also? Why is it that we rally behind our gay brothers and sisters who are in the minority when most religious books want them dead?

If the basis of our morality is the opinion of the majority, then, as pointed out in another blog post just before this one, wasn't Hitler correct in murdering the Jews? The US and the rest of the… Continue

We should have a poll..

...regarding which religion people left.

It seems most people here are bashing judaism and Christianity mostly (I'm new but I've been folllowing the site for a while) leaving out Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, etc.

No matter what anyone says, the last two are religions and its not just what the religion or "way of life"dictates you that causes people to go gaga. The reinforced confidence in committing crimes based on religious preference is in some cases a stronger reason. Sri… Continue
