How do I begin my work day?

No need to pray, for nothing is going to hear me anyway. A quiet few moments in the car, driving down the road, listening to classical music before I arrive at work, is a great way to start my day. Also, while I'm at it...just looking around at nature, the sky, the beauty that is all around us, and the wonder of our world all around us. It is amazing that all this developed over such a long period of time, and that all the creatures that surrounds us all descended over billions of years from…

"god" is for the winning side?

Take any event where there are opposing forces competing/battling each other: sports, wars, races, basketball tournaments, games, etc. Now, why do the parties who come out on the winning side always invoke "god" as being responsible for the win? Japanese quake is a natural disaster, not the "hand" of "god".

There's no need to run to ancient texts to try to discover why "god" would send a devastating earthquake, and tsunami, to the nation of Japan, and the resulting death toll, destruction, and nuclear disaster. It happened naturally. There was no "sin" that "god" was trying to punish.

"The Word was God"

In John 1:1, it reads:

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (KJV)

A strange passage. Here, the Word, that is, Jesus, is claiming to be his own father.

The bible defies the imagination.

What's the point of "reading through the bible in a year"?

An activity that's very popular with evangelicals is called "reading through the bible in a year". It is exactly as described: using a furnished checklist of roughly a few chapters a day, the evangelical reads their allotted scripture passages each day, until they have read through the bible in a year's time. There are also web sites and computer programs that will help you keep track of your progress as well. The motive behind this is to get christians to read their bibles completely…
