Guilty verdict for ‘honor killings’

Much to my excitement a dark and primitive concept was shown to be intolerable  in Canada today as all members Shafia family are found guilty of first degree murder. Hamed Shafia, his second wife Tooba Mohammad Yahya, 42, and their eldest son, Hamed, 21 were arrested in July of 2011 for the murder of Hamed Shafia’s three daughters…

Psychic Sally Morgan is afraid and should be

In September of last year magician Paul Zenon wrote an article for the daily Mail in which he exposed Sally Morgan. It was widely read and so fraudster Morgan is so upset she is suing (more details). She has a right to be upset, Zenon correctly pointed to the usual bag of…

Religion would not survive life on other planets

There are billions of planets even in our own galaxy, and millions of galaxies in the universe. Discovering other inhabitable planets and possibly extraterrestrial life is inevitable , it’s simply a question of when. Andrew Fiala wrote a great article  for the Council For Secular Humanism in which he predicts that discovering either other inhabitable planets and/or extraterrestrial life…

The Roman Catholic Church Continues to Bury Itself

Hate filled, and outrageous is nothing in the news, especially so from religious fundamentalists. Today it comes from, as you probably could have guessed, a Roman Catholic official (surprise surprise).  Cardinal Francis George said in a Fox news interview last week:

“‘You don’t want the gay…

Some Thing Are More Important Than Being Right

There are a few expressions for it: Talking to a brick wall, kicking a dead horse, falling on deaf ears and so on. Just about everyone has experienced the frustration of being unable to reach a person no matter how reasonable you may be, no matter what proof you bring you are just not getting through. There comes a time when one has to admit that further discussion is simply a waste of time. Sooner or later trying to reason or debate with a person won’t do anything but make you stressed.…

The Religion of Peace Plunging Nigeria Into Civil War

Islam is the religion of peace? This Christmas day in Nigeria the religion of peace demonstrated that it carries this line of reasoning:

1. Sharia law would be good for our country,

2. Sharia law has not yet be implemented so therefore,

3. We must commence killing and terrorizing to demonstrate just how peaceful our religion makes us.

In total 27 people were killed and dozens more injured as a series of bombs aimed the ‘enemies’ of the religion of peace were detonated…

Who can fill the big shoes left behind by Christopher Hitchens?

As a voice for reason he made an astounding positive impact on the world in a very short period of time.  So, no one could ever take his place and to suggest so I think would disrespect his legacy but the fight must go on. Someone needs to continue to fight the evils of religion and superstition. Who could take over and lead the way? There are at least a few possibilities and here they are ranked up compared to Hitchens on a scale of 1- to 5:

Richard Dawkins…

Happy Holidays or Bah Humbug?

The phrase made famous by Ebeneezer Scrooge has gotten to be synonymous with anyone who shows any kind of discontent for the Christmas season. It has gotten to the point where some Christians will actually accuse you of being a ‘Scrooge’ for not saying Merry Christmas. The arrogant assumption being that everyone celebrates Christmas and that anyone who doesn’t is in such rare occurrence that they don’t matter. Yes, they don’t matter. It’s this that makes this viewpoint almost inhuman. People…

Let's Send Rick Perry and those like him a message

In  this advertisement Rick Perry said

I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m a Christian, but you don’t need to be in the pew every Sunday to know there’s something wrong in this country when gays can serve openly in the military but our kids can’t openly celebrate Christmas or pray in school.

As President, I’ll end Obama’s war on religion. And I’ll fight against liberal…

Religious groups Say Anti-Bullying Law is a Hidden Sex Ed Agenda

In light of recent bullying related suicides the Ontario Government moved to bring in strict new anti-bullying laws. The laws make it clear that students will face expulsion for cyber-bullying, hateful text messages and getting physical including push and shoving. The new laws also outlaw sexual assault, gender based violence and homophobia. Of course that last one has got fundamentalists crying foul.

Charles McVetty of the Institute for Canadian Values says Premier Dalton…

Do Not Give To The Salvation Army

It’s that time of year again, when the bell ringers hit the malls and city streets with their buckets asking for donations to help the poor. It’s hard to believe that with all their good work feeding the hungry and clothing the poor that they would hold onto hate-filled and anti-human beliefs that turns any decent human being’s respect for them into contempt instead. The Christian fundamentalism that runs rampant in the Salvation Army has manifested itself in openly fighting the rights of…

Only in a Theocracy

I am tempted to create a humor page because I just see this kind laughable logic pretty near every single day coming from the mouths of theists of all kinds. This time it's Saudi clerics who claim that if women are allowed to drive it would “provoke a surge in prostitution, pornography, homosexuality and divorce.”  Brave women have been fighting for the right to drive "in the only country in the world where women are not allowed to take the wheel." (…

In the Company of Rapists

According to the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology atheists still have to face rather daunting stigmas. According to the study majority of believers still regard atheists  as trustworthy as rapists. A comrade at Think Atheist rightly pointed out "that's just too ridiculous not…

The Empowerment of "I don't Know"

The Empowerment of Admitting ‘I Don’t Know’

This is a link to Top Ten Things Believers Say When They mean “I don’t know”.  Most unbelievers have heard all of these at one time or another. I really don’t understand why anyone would be afraid of ‘I don’t know’. Here is a list of 5 reasons why “I don’t know “ is liberating and…

The Pope puckers up

Well not really, but this is part of a fantastic campaign promoting tolerance. The Vatican wielded its power and had this ad pulled but not before I was able to save a copy and share it with the world. They will not censor tolerance.

There are some others that are worth checking out too.…

Anti-Vaccination Lunatics Take It To The Next Level

As if the anti-vaccination campaign weren’t dangerous and paranoid enough already they have managed to find a way to take it to next level. They are now deliberately infecting their own children to “build immunity”. According to WebMD they are ‘sending off for lollipops licked by kids who have the disease’. If I didn’t know better I would swear they were trying to find more…

Ireland tells the Vatican how it feels

I am elated to hear that Ireland has officially told the Vatican they will no longer tolerate their evils and closed their embassy as Reuters reports. Citing that the embassy has "no economic return" Ireland announced the closing Thursday night and will be the first major country with a strong Catholic history to cut off ties with the Vatican.

This is fantastic news, I can only hope other…
