So I see a post on the Facebook wall of the Freethought Film Festival Foundation from Open Air Cinema, inviting us to join their contest to win an outoor movie system for our organization. I've always envisioned to some day be able to do a tour of freethought films with free outdoor screenings in various cities. Local secular groups often invite me to present, and it would be such a fun way to expand the reach of freethought films. The contest registration was easy…

I received an automated phone message today from the mayor's office of Tampa, reminding the good citizens of Tampa Bay to "behave responsibly" at Gasparilla. I'm stunned! (Despite this, I am still able to type.)
I can't believe that government dollars were spent on this! In the context of TA, why the fuck would they even need to send messages in the first place!? This is a Christian nation, right? What's the percentage of…

It's a rare, rare occasion that I will engage in any form of "debate" (I use the word loosely, considering, well...you know) with strangers who are of fundy persuasion. Yesterday, one of my childhood friends (with whom I am Facebook friends--cliche, I know) posted a religiously-natured Facebook status update in the form of a question. I didn't automaticaly comment what I really wanted to write, but I asked if the question was rhetorical, or if…

Damn!! I just checked my Yahoo email to find a message on which I thought I was still waiting. I have been communicating with the planning committee for the Atheist Alliance International 2010 North American Convention over the past few months regarding the Freethought Film Festival Foundation screening a film at the convention. I wanted to wait for a go ahead from AAI to announce the…

I am SO grateful to Jennifer Hancock, author of The Humanist Approach to Happiness for writing about this! I hope that we can make a difference. Please share this with other atheists/freethinkers/humanists/agnostics (whoever--of course) to help spread the word.
Without sharing too much, I know for a fact, that Morgan's parents give ALL of the credit for her gradual improvement to doctors…

This week has been especially productive for me as far as the film festival goes. I presented a freethought shorts program to CFI Tampa, and the demographic was spot on, and I was super psyched. Several independent film enthusiast were in attendance, and the films were well received. I'm also psyched about the online contest that we (Freethought Film Festival Foundation) are planning. The theme is Skeptical Satirical Shorts Under 666 Seconds. Online…

That's what an employee at Clear Channel said to my husband when he went to pick up the "Are you good without God. Millions are." billboards for me last Friday. When he backed up our minivan to load the vinals, (from which relic totebags are being fashioned) the guy eyeballed our bumper stickers and emblems.and made his comment, "Well that puts an end to that…
