How does religion (fundamentalism) affect empathy?

So I have not given this a lot of thought nor have i often encountered it in books or conversation. The knee jerk answer is (especially for theists who equate religion with morality and good character) that it enhances empathy.

My guess is that in general the greater the degree of fundamentalism the greater the degree of reduction in empathy. What say you?

They're Here

Time of reckoning. Aliens have arrived. Superior beings are in charge. So much so that the cosmos is understood. All adults are compelled to take a stand as to whether god(s) exist(ed). Answer incorrectly and you are dispatched with extreme prejudice.

Are you tied in knots and filled with fear? Or do you walk into the moment of truth confessional with aplomb?

Conventional Wisdom

NOT GOING TO SPECULATE:

You aren't? Why, what is the problem. You believe in a fairy tale world utterly lacking in foundation and yet you are opposed to speculation?

DEFINITION OF INSANITY IS DOING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AND EXPECTING A DIFFERENT RESULT:

This definition is demonstrably false and yet it is adduced at the drop of a deuce as though its wisdom is beyond criticism.

EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON:

Another sickening saw. The…

glimpse the ethical dilemna of the Glimps

When the author looks in the mirror he is almost Unseen.

So it turns out humans are not the most advanced life forms in the cosmos. Neither are the Glimps. Glimps, however, have as large a gulf between themselves and ourselves as we do between ourselves and cats.

Similar to a bad sci-fi the Glimps have conquered us and made us their playthings. Pets. So Glimper is on vacay and Glimpo is left in charge. Kim Kardashian is the pet. A priceless bauble is the prized…
