Rain gauge Earth

http://brainhulklogicsmash.blogspot.com/2013/06/rain-gauge-earth.html

We live in a rain gauge... Figuratively of course. But are you still curious what I'm on about? Well, allow me to elaborate. Sometimes I hear believers claim that life on Earth is so miraculous that only a divine being could explain it. There are actually scientific explanations that explain life rather well. But I am mainly…

For God so loved the world…

…that he deemed that all are deserving of eternal torment. Look at the person on your left, your right, behind you, in the mirror. Picture them engulfed in the agony of never-ending fire. Picture yourself meeting that same fate.

What about your husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, son, daughter, brother,…

Hard > Easy

http://brainhulklogicsmash.blogspot.com/2012/11/hard-easy.html

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sometimes I hear it said that I'm only an atheist because, "That's the easy thing to do." That people are non-believers because they are lazy. These people will claim that the faithful are the ones walking the hard road... That belief means that…

Only wishful thinking

Another entry from my blog: http://brainhulklogicsmash.blogspot.com/2013/04/only-wishful-thinking.html

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, it's the second week in a row without a dismantling of Billy Graham's fragile claims. In my Sunday paper he tackled the hot button issue that everyone wants a answer to. Yes, he went big and answered the…

Forgiveness? More like blackmail!

http://brainhulklogicsmash.blogspot.com/2013/03/forgiveness-more-like-blackmail.html

Well, well, well... Billy Graham delivers yet more entertainment yet again. Lets take a look at his flawless delivery of yet more terrible advice...

With God's help, we can forgive

The good news?

http://brainhulklogicsmash.blogspot.com/2013/03/the-good-news.html

It never seems to fail... Whenever the door to door religion salesmen come knocking, I'm just not home. Unlike most that want to avoid them, I would actually like to explain the errors of their flawed arguments. Sadly, they either come when only my wife is home, or when we are both out. The latter was the case yesterday. We got back to…

This land is your land, not McFarland's

http://brainhulklogicsmash.blogspot.com/2013/03/this-land-is-your-land-not-mcfarlands.html

Alex McFarland is a Christian Apologist that is organizing Project 2026. Project 2026 is described as "A nationwide initiate to see Christianity's place in society restored to maximum strength by America's 250th birthday." Basically,  they blame anything they deem as 'bad' about America is…

Chuck Norris vs Jesus

http://www.brainhulklogicsmash.blogspot.com/2012/11/chuck-norris-vs-jesus.html

Jesus. Inevitably, he comes up in any religious conversation with a Christian. They will often cite him as a historical figure who's existence is beyond question. Of course many atheist's do not believe there…

Female Christianity

http://brainhulklogicsmash.blogspot.com/

----------------------------------------------------------------------

From time to time, we'll have Christians going door to door in our neighborhood trying to sell their religion to everyone and anyone who will listen. One thing that surprises me is how often the proselytizers are women or young girls. This surprises me, because religion often treats women as second…

The presumptuous Billy Graham

Blogging for logic // Religious assumptions

Greetings all!

I haven't posted on TA for a while but have been lurking the site and enjoying everyone's videos and blogs. Regrettably, my free time has been at a premium, and jumping in to discussions right at the deep end is what has ultimately suffered. That said, I've recently decided to try my hand at blogging as a stress outlet, and to put my usual ramblings and reactions into written words. My most recent posting was of a theological nature, so I figured I'd share it with…

Holiday Toast

My wife and I are probably having my parents over for diner on Christmas, so I was sitting and remembered about how my dad likes to joke about saying grace in the name of fun. He always says it jokingly and is really just trying to get my mom to lighten up about the issue a little and realize my non-belief is fine and that the fact of me being a good person is what matters. He never actually says grace at hope or anywhere, so he actually has no intentions of saying it or joining in. But it…

Inane church signs

Okay, we've all seen them Those message boards out front of churches where they put up a new message every so often. Well around here we've had a few ridiculous ones lately.

"The trees are green, the birds are back, God did it again!"  Seriously? Do these people seriously not know how the seasons work?

The newest on is pretty silly. "Save gas, walk with God."

I thought this might be a good place we could share the ridiculous quotes we see. So,…

Omniscience

Omniscience: the capacity to know everything infinitely, all knowing, infinitely wise...

This is a trait often attributed to deities. The Christian god is no exception. Yet is seems that the words of believers and their own holy book fly in contrast to this claim, as I will illustrate.

Free Will: Many a theist will tell you that God has a perfect divine plan for us but that we also have free will. Meaning that we may make choices that go…

Run away theist?

On a car forum I moderate on, a religion thread was started. It wasn't long before the zealots came out to praise one another and then the resident Atheists chimed in. There was one theist in particular that was heading up their side of the discussion and is the main party I replied to and debated in the thread. There were a few moments that make you go 'huh?', like when someone claimed that Christians were the minority. That was quickly dispatched with a brief providing of actual…

Only through Jesus?

OK, we've all heard the Christian call that only through Jesus can you gain salvation and enter Heaven. We all know that this is an empty and pointless claim, yet looking solely at the Christian faith, do they even have good reason to state this? I wager that they don't. If you ask many Christians if they think if Moses, Job, Noah, etc are in Heaven or deserving of it, I'm sure may would say they should. After all, they were great champions of their God. But they came before Jesus, so they… Continue

My head... It hurts.

More adventures from my wife's work day. From time to time the conversations of my wife and her co-workers pass into discussion on religion. Well, today was one of those days. She couldn't remember what they were discussing, but did remember these two points that temp workers made. The first one said that he doesn't understand Atheists, "They bash religion all the time, yet most of them feel the need to meet up in groups, attend Atheist conventions and join websites". Basically a loose version… Continue
