Empathy, the key to "good morals"?

Lately, I've been thinking more about empathy and how useful it is to humans. 

Empathy is defined as "The ability to understand and share the feelings of another" (at least to google..)

I came to a conclusion, empathy is the reason humans (and other animals) have some degree of "morals" the more I thought about it, the more I realized that almost every thing deemed "immoral" in society is in some way harmful, of course there is exceptions such as homosexuality,…

How I understand Morality..

You'll have to bear with me on this, I'm not very good at writing.. And even worse with putting my thoughts and ideas into writing, but I'll give it a go.

In a recent argument/discussion with a Christian about morality, I suddenly realized I hadn't given it much thought! I've always just.. Been moral, I've never had to think about why, or how I should be moral.. But then I thought about it more, and it seems I DO think about why and how.. I seem to base my morality on the idea…

Hello..?

I'm.. Not good with introductions, but.. Here it is anyway, I'm Steven and I'm 18.. I've been an Atheist or at least doubtful of the existence of a god/gods since I was 14-15 years old, maybe even younger.. I've always loved science, and get a tingle inside when I look at the universe around us (and within us). I may be a slight hippy..
