Hi ThinkAtheist Universe!!!!!!
I'm the staff advisor for the Secular Student Alliance at Towson University. Although the group is small it is active and growing. We are hoping to bring Ed Brayton to campus for an event and the group is trying to raise funds to make it happen. As you can imagine, it is much harder for an atheist organization to raise money as opposed to other "traditional" groups on our campus. Thus…

Creationists remove evolution from text books. Sound familiar? You would think this is another news story from the good ol USA? Wrong. Turns out South Korea is moving up in the batshitcrazy category as well. Sad news for one of the world's leaders in scientific advancement.
Creationists in South Korea won a campaign to remove evolution from high school textbook
According to Nature.com, a group called the Society for Textbook Revise mounted an effective petition drive…

So maybe I'm spending too much of my life on atheism, Think Atheist, the National Atheist Party( shameless plug) etc..., or maybe I've become so aware of the nature, commonality and saturation of Christianity in this country that I cannot help it, but it's come to the point, where every time i see someone wearing a cross, regardless of how small or nondescript, it causes me to wince inside (one hell of a run-on sentance, my apologies to…

In an article from the Examiner.com, the William Hamby explores the controversy surrounding Tim Minchin's song, "Fuck The Pope" that he performed at the Reason Rally. Catholic groups are raising hell (pun intended) and are saying it was blasphemy. Aside from that, people are also saying that the Rally was billed as family friendly and the cursing was too much.
My view is that both the organizers of the Rally and the people who…

From Yahoo News, more BS from One Million Moms the offshoot of AMA. They're after JCPenny because of their new spokesperson Ellen. This has zero chance of success but if it does, I will be standing outside JCPenny's signs in hand. I hope Ellen says something.

I would call myself of average on the IQ/intellectual scale. Having said that I do have a very difficult time with complex ideas in terms of understanding and explaining them. So when little things like this pop-up and allow the light-bulb in my head to go on, I'm carefully optimistic in sharing it with others. So if you are a science buff and think this is accurate representation or if you think it is not accurate, please let me know!…

Everyone is aware of the tradition of the Boy Scouts of America to exclude the three Gs (Gays, Godless, Girls). I have person distaste for anything Boy Scout because of this and make sure I do not support them in any way. To my surprise and delight, the Girl Scouts have chosen a different route. Explained below in the blog by the Friendly Atheist, a former girl scout has come out publicly against the policy of the…
