I Don't Mean to Offend, I Am Smart But...Help Me Out

I would like to post a conversation I just had on Google+. I understand how my statements may sound offensive but I see things as I see it. My opinion is not unheard of but I am not saying it is fact. However, my issue really isnt about what I said it is about the response it received from a guy who didn't like what I said but posted his opinions. I don't understand them and I was wondering if someone could explain what he means by his definition of consciousness and "objective…

Ecclesiastes 1:1 to 12:1

1:1 The words of the preacher, the son of King David in Jerusalem.

Everything is nothing, absolutely nothing. Everything is absolutely nothing. People live and people die but the Earth just keeps on keeping on. The sun rises and the sun sets.…

What is light without dark? God and Job

Job 19:1 to 42:10

19:1 Both God and Satan remained quiet while Job and his three friends continued debating the system of justice God had provided for the Universe. Job said, "Give me a break, I'm innocent. I've begged God to hear my story but he's shut me out. He has unfairly counted me among his enemies. He has…

Waiting for death. Stock photo. Job's Friends

Job 8:1 to 18:1

8:1 After Job's extensive tirade about the unjust nature of humanity's role in the battle between cosmic factions of good and evil, his number two friend had finally heard enough and entered the fray. He said "How long can you go on and on about what a good guy you are? If…

The Game

A Universe unevenly divided by truth and lies. Testing Job

Job 1:1 to 6:4

1:1 Once upon a time there was a rich man in the land of Uz whose name was Job. He was indeed one righteous dude. He was very afraid of the Lord, which is wise, and also he hated evil. So that was essentially Job’s stand on the subject of human morality, fear and hate. He had a…

So who or what created the universe?

Is there anyone who doesn't ask this question? If not, why not? I'm pretty confident that any thinker has pondered this. Hmmm... why is this such a concern of ours? Why is this question in our mind? Why were we not content with just being? You know, as in the earth was always here.

Well, regardless, we asked.

Science is now telling us that the universe came into existence when a primordial start of elemental condition started to expand. Which still begs the question,…

The Scale Of The Universe

This is for all the lay people out there. Of course, we all know the  universe is big. But this paragraph (paraphrased below) in the book I'm  currently reading: Chris Impey's "How it Ends", crystallizes that fact  more dramatically than I've ever heard before.

Shrink the universe by a factor of 300 million. Earth reduces to the size of a golf ball. The Sun is a 3-meter ball 400 meters away. But the nearest star is still 35,000km (20,000 miles) away.

Now, shrink the universe… Continue

White Blood Cells

I was talking with a friend of mine about the universe, and space. He started in on a size-comparison of us to the universe, and then extended it between us and our white blood cells. He pointed out that as far as cells go, white blood cells are pretty sophisticated, but in general they're pretty stupid (they attack good cells, for instance).

He posed the question, "What if we're just the white blood cells of some other being?"

We weren't talking about a god in the sense of… Continue

Prelude: Are Atheists reluctant to confront Islam?

The Universe from NOTHING: Amazing video
