My venture into the Audio Quran.

So, I have started listening to the Audio Quran, since I have never read it before, and I have decided to keep a running journal of the lessons I can take away from it.

So far, 2 chapters in (roughly 2 hours) this is what I have learned.

Day 1:

- Fasting wards off evil.

- The longer you fast, the more healthy you will be.

- Slay all disbelievers, until religion is for Allah.

- Don't eat pork.

Please open your bible to page...

I just purchased a King James Version of the Holy Bible. Though I have read parts of the bible, I have never read it in its entirety, and I am very excited to begin! I am going to start with the Old Testament, and then the New. I know very little about the different versions of the bible, but this seems like a good place to start.

I am expecting this work of fiction to be very entertaining, as I am sure it contains much action, violence, supernatural occurances, humor, satire...in…

Have you read your Bible?

My best friend is pretty awesome but she doesn't think. She was raised Catholic but doesn't follow anything they believe. She goes to a non-denominational church with her fiancée and his family. We sometimes speak about religion but she & her fiancée usually just agree with me. [I wonder why sometimes they aren't at least agnostics or deists...]

So, yesterday, my other friend Keith who is also an atheist came over to my house. [Lauren was all ready over.] She was talking…

Do you like to read?

I feel a bit shady posting this as my very first blog; I blog on my other site (greengeekgirl.com) and rarely think to migrate the blogs over here. I'm looking for a few intelligent readers, though, so I'm pressing on!

Note: This is absolutely and positively an attempt to get cool new members for my book group.  But don't be fooled--I'm not mass-spamming this all over every site that I visit.  I'm concentrating my efforts on the few sites where I will find intelligent,…

My First Skeptical Moment

Yesterday I ran across a video of someone holding a small pendulum and answering questions by "psychically" willing it to move back and forth for yes or left and right for no, and it brought back a flood of memories. I had one of those pendulums (sold by Uri Geller, of course) when I was a teenager and swore by it as a sure thing. I was not so credulous as to believe in Ouija boards (obviously people were subconsciously pushing the thing around), but my pendulum had to be true because I could… Continue
