Pledge of Allegiance problem in school

Hiya. My name is Ash...

I go to a high school  in the state of Georgia, and I am currently taking AP US History.

I do not say the pledge, and I do not stand.

I do not say it because I know America is not "under God" and I know there is not "liberty and justice for all."

I choose not to stand because I don't want to stand for a country, that I believe, does not stand for me.

I have not stood for the pledge since 8th grade, and I'm currently in 11th. I have never had any…

One Nation Under Ignorance

I decided to do a survey on Facebook to see how people felt about 1) the phrase 'Under God' being removed from the Pledge, and 2) creationism being taught in schools.

[UPDATED] Thousands of Tax Payer Dollars to Add Engraving to Capitol Visitor Center

How irresponsible and wasteful! No matter which side of the political teater-totter you sit on, most of us aren't happy with the current financial situation; both in the economy and in the government. I'm no financial whiz, but I know that right now the government should not be spending thousands (or more likely tens of thousands) of dollars of tax payer money to add a few engravings to the United States Capitol Visitor Center (CVC) (… Continue

"Under God" and Compulsory Unity

[From Bloc Raisonneur]

Radley Balko at the Agitator and Jason Kuznicki at Positive Liberty wonder at the wisdom of Michael Newdow and other atheists' attempts to strike "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance. Their beef? Per Balko:

Seems to me that the real problem here—whether you’re atheist, agnostic, or devout—is the idea that we’re forcing school…
