So a Christian doesn't tolerate my views - why be so annoyed?

Just why can’t we let some things go? Why do some things bother us more than others? Why do some things bother some people more than other people? These are things about which I deem myself to have some insight; hopefully more than some, since I’m a therapist working somewhere within the psychotherapy field.

Let’s break it down: put very simply, there are three types of recognised personalities within psychology. One is a very sensitive type, prone to traits of emotional delicateness,…

Secular Morality and the Strive for Faith in Others

ALL right, all right. And so: Here we are.

When I was last active on this site roughly a year or so ago, I had recently denounced my Catholic faith in the spirit of teenage angst/bitter confusion. I was scared, pissed off, and disillusioned; moreover, I had basically become a cynical douche who thought he was somehow more inept to attaining knowledge of “the inner-workings of the universe” only because I had been forced to deal with several untimely deaths in my family/friend circle… Continue

A Philosophical View

I enjoy looking at a variety of views on both theism and atheism. One argument that has intrigued me is the problem of evil which goes something like this:

Premise 1.) If God exists, then there would be no evil (immoral actions) in the world.

Premise 2.) There is (are) evil (immoral actions) in the world.

Conclusion: God does not exist.

This is a strong argument in favor of Atheism, however many would try to attack the first premise which we shall call (1). I have been… Continue

Why Jesus (if he existed) Ain't Coming Back -The Bible Version.

Most Christians believe that Jesus will return one day to save them from us godless heathens and "take them up into the clouds"--but if they actually read their bibles they would realize that it ain't gonna happen.  Nope, never.  See the following excerpt from our book which explains why:

"Although Christianity was practiced shortly after the supposed “death” of Jesus Christ, in the Roman Empire it only…

My thoughts on the Pg 2 of Bible Story by Arthur S Maxwell

Some more of my annotated comments on the bible story. It says the evolution and plate tectonics are strange ideas I strongly disagree with that line of thought. I have also pointed on the parts of the text where this claims are made.…

In the Garden of Eden

Okay.. This will sound like a silly story for kids.. It's the Islamic version of the story of Adam..

In the Garden of Eden, and that was long time ago, God created Adam in his image! He ordered all his angels to bow to Adam.

But,,,, there is a jealous guy who refused to bow to Adam...Haha

That jealous guy named Satan and that guy was smart BTW, he always like to destroy God's plan… Allah says, O Satan, why you didn't do what I…

Ideal separation of church and state

If there was real separation of church and state there would be:

  1. No crosses on public roads and public highways
  2. No "In God We Trust" on the currency
  3. No "Under God" in pledge of allegiance
  4. No "Acts of God" in the books of law
  5. No taking oath to public office in name of god, or on the bible
  6. No adding of god to the party agendas
  7. No "In God We Trust" license plates issued for free on tax payers dime
  8. No laws banning…

The Fall of Atheism

Is it just me, or does everybody on here sound like pathetic politicians, just trying to make themselves sound more believable putting others down than proving themselves? Has anybody heard of the phrase, "You catch more flies with honey than vinegar?," or has the complex design of human intelligence been reduced to stupidity?

Freedom of Speech

I've seen so many groups get all upset over different issues ranging from the Occupy Wall Street movement to anti-war protesters to Creationist propaganda.  I also see from time to time the hate spewed by the Westboro Baptist Church and I cringe each time. I've seen people accuse and believe political propaganda and spout off repeated twists of the truth to serve their own agenda knowing its a lie. I've seen people con others into scams, political ideology and all around social nonsense. But…

Boycott The Scouts

It has long been common knowledge that Boy Scouts of America and the LGBT Community or indeed the Atheist Community don’t exactly see eye to eye.

The Boy Scouts of America is a large private youth organisation in the United States. I has very strict policies which prohibit atheists from membership in its…

Freedom of, not from, religion.

How is freedom OF religion also not freedom FROM religion? It doesn't say "freedom of any available Christian denomination" So that would infer, freedom to choose Buddhism or Hindu, or (as Abraham Lincoln said) "when I do good, I feel good" THAT is my religion."

Pastor Agnostic's Genesis

In the beginning, god was created in the image of Man.

And the earth was without form, and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep.

And 14.4 billion years ago, all matter was created, and from this explosion eventually came atoms and matter, which grew large and firm, and when sufficient amount of matter gathered together, the matter could not help itself,  and began to fuse and from that fusion of matter escaped particle wave forms of various frequencies, and… Continue

American Paradise of Christianity

Lets say we removed all non Christians from and area of the US. What do you suppose would happen? I think Christians have some crazy notion that everything would be just peachy. Life would be paradise! There would be no violence, no differences and peace for all. Right? Does history show otherwise? Without something for them to disagree on would they slowly divide and destroy themselves over time? What do you think would happen?

Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear (D) has proposed a 2012-2013 budget that includes heavy cuts to some key departments while giving a $43 million tax break to a massive creationist theme park.

In his plan, Beshear calls for a 6.4 percent cut to Kentucky's higher education department, a…
