I'm posting this for attention. I feel like I need to be honest upfront. Anyone who writes a blog wants people to read it. With that said, this post is going to be relatively short. My main goal is to meet like-minded people anyway, and this might seem counter-intuitive, but atheism is really only a miniscule fraction of our lives, right?
Atheism does allow us to scrape away a lot of the bullshit from our lives, though. But I think I'm going to talk about a few things that are…Continue
My mother, Zella Mae Jarrett of Boone County West Virginia ceased to exist at 10:58 PM on Saturday, April 19th, 2014.
I'll write more later.
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
― Genesis 2:17
If we interpret this sentence in a certain way, it tells us almost everything we need to know about personal morality.
We normally talk about the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Fruit = consequences.
Good and Evil can be seen as Good and Bad ― Liking and…Continue

My interest in Richard Dawkins has long been kind of on-again, off-again. Don't get me wrong, I think he's brilliant, and most of his ideas about religion and its value (or lack thereof) are quite sensible. However, he sometimes strikes me as a bit naive about religion, at least as it is practiced by many people in everyday life. In other words, in interviews I've seen, he adopts an attitude of being completely unable to understand how any sensible person can believe in a god, any more…Continue
I think it's time to call religious beliefs what they are; theories. Just as Christians continually harp on the fact that evolution is "just a theory", without any real understanding of the term, I think we should start referring to their beliefs as simply a theory. Yes, I know that religious beliefs are not even close to a scientific theory; they are more like a simple hypothesis at this time, but let's just use the term in the way that the theists insist on using it.
Please not that…Continue
How did it happen?
I live alone on 10 acres and I have lots of time to think and weigh out how the world got so crazy. I watch news and when I see people who are in the highest positions of power talking about "God" and how he influences their decisions my stomach churns and I go into a cold sweat. I don't know about you but to me its scary, real scary, Its to the point where I don't want to even go out of the property unless its a absolute necessity. Why are people who seem to have…Continue
Stone Bench Featuring Secular Quotes Will Sit Beside Religious Tribute
Cranford, NJ—Following a settlement with Bradford County, Florida, American Atheists will unveil a new monument in front of the Bradford County Courthouse: a 1,500-pound granite bench engraved with quotations from Thomas Jefferson,…Continue
Just why can’t we let some things go? Why do some things bother us more than others? Why do some things bother some people more than other people? These are things about which I deem myself to have some insight; hopefully more than some, since I’m a therapist working somewhere within the psychotherapy field.
Let’s break it down: put very simply, there are three types of recognised personalities within psychology. One is a very sensitive type, prone to traits of emotional delicateness,…Continue

Most Christians believe that Jesus will return one day to save them from us godless heathens and "take them up into the clouds"--but if they actually read their bibles they would realize that it ain't gonna happen. Nope, never. See the following excerpt from our book which explains why:
"Although Christianity was practiced shortly after the supposed “death” of Jesus Christ, in the Roman Empire it only…Continue

Some more of my annotated comments on the bible story. It says the evolution and plate tectonics are strange ideas I strongly disagree with that line of thought. I have also pointed on the parts of the text where this claims are made.…Continue

Okay.. This will sound like a silly story for kids.. It's the Islamic version of the story of Adam..
In the Garden of Eden, and that was long time ago, God created Adam in his image! He ordered all his angels to bow to Adam.
But,,,, there is a jealous guy who refused to bow to Adam...Haha
That jealous guy named Satan and that guy was smart BTW, he always like to destroy God's plan… Allah says, O Satan, why you didn't do what I…Continue
If there was real separation of church and state there would be:
Is it just me, or does everybody on here sound like pathetic politicians, just trying to make themselves sound more believable putting others down than proving themselves? Has anybody heard of the phrase, "You catch more flies with honey than vinegar?," or has the complex design of human intelligence been reduced to stupidity?
I've seen so many groups get all upset over different issues ranging from the Occupy Wall Street movement to anti-war protesters to Creationist propaganda. I also see from time to time the hate spewed by the Westboro Baptist Church and I cringe each time. I've seen people accuse and believe political propaganda and spout off repeated twists of the truth to serve their own agenda knowing its a lie. I've seen people con others into scams, political ideology and all around social nonsense. But…Continue

It has long been common knowledge that Boy Scouts of America and the LGBT Community or indeed the Atheist Community don’t exactly see eye to eye.
The Boy Scouts of America is a large private youth organisation in the United States. I has very strict policies which prohibit atheists from membership in its…Continue
