"I Am a Young Muslim. I Found Out That My Girlfriend Is Not Pure. Now I Want To Kill Myself."

A great letter I came across. A young Muslim Pakistani boy finds out his girlfriend wasn't a virgin, and e-mails a psychologist threatening suicide. The psychologist's answer is awesome.

Excerpt:

Perhaps reading this account of the terrifying, inhumane, and repressive situation in your country shocks you, and you may feel that I am being unfair to Pakistan or to Islam, but my intention is neither to discredit Pakistan nor to insult Islam. I simply must start with…

Legally backed/obliged faith

Here in the Islamic wacky land of Indonesia the devout are everywhere. Running too and fro  humming, mumbling, beating drums, reciting, and handing coins to beggars for everyone to see. Obsessing over Islamic rules first stated in popular hearsay manuals like Bhukari's hadith, all the while turning a blind eye to the playing out of such social taboos as homosexuality, kissing, drinking and basically any western "too free society" influence on TV daily, or on the streets of Jakarta…

When it supports their absurd arguments, only then will they believe in separation of church & state

The following is from The Religion Clause, an excellent blog that I  read to keep updated on lawsuits/cases and other such occurrences that  relate to religion and the law.

Herman Cain is pretty much a nut.  OK, there's no "pretty much" about  it. In this case,  I love how all of a sudden he believes in the  separation of church and state so he can make his argument - a pathetic  and nonsensical one at that.  Any other time they're (Cain and many, many others like him) saying the…

Fond of atheism

I always was that guy who had a lot of dreams and obsessions ,but usually those were not productive obsessions since because I was a muslim nearly everything I wanted to do was considered a bad thing by my parents and society ,but now since I am an atheist I feel much more free and honest about my desires the issue is just is after a while these obsessions faded I now like a lot of stuff ,but there is really nothing I want to do other than chill around with people and have smart and fun… Continue

"Artifical Virginity" Kit Riles Muslims

Muslim conservatives in Egypt are calling for a ban on the "Artificial Virginity Hymen Kit," saying it will promote promiscuity. According to a story in the LA Times, "The kit allows a bride who is not a virgin to pretend that she is. A pouch inserted into the vagina on her wedding night ruptures and leaks a blood-like liquid designed to trick a new husband into believing that… Continue

The Ideas and Influence of al-Ghazzali

Following my introduction (2 paragraphs) are selected excerpts from Wikipedia's article on al-Ghazzali. Many historians, Muslim or not, believe al-Ghazzali is the most influential Muslim since the Prophet Muhammad. He single-handedly shifted early Arab ideals away from Greek philosophy to orthodox Islam. Despite being a scientist, philosopher and innovator himself, Ghazzali's prolific and influential writings heralded the end… Continue

Women Constables Forced to Observe Religious Teaching

And so it begins in England, Female Constables have been issues headscarves to wear when entering a house of worship. The intent is to get along with Muslims. The attempt to get along seems to be a one way street and not a road that should be travelled. Story

The covering of heads is a sexist issue. The purpose is modesty. Women’s hair drives men so nuts… Continue

"An Iraqi woman suspected of recruiting more than 80 female suicide bombers has confessed to organizing their rapes so she could later convince them that martyrdom was the only way to escape the shame."

finally able to express my feelings..

I've always been afraid to voice out my opinions on religion and how i find them revolting and the people are barbarians, because im living in indonesia where it is a religion country and everyone has to own a religion no matter what. if they dun, they are considered a communist, and out of this country or get arrested. im especially afraid to share my feelings about the muslims (because the majority here is muslims). my friends are mostly christian fanatics who keep bothering me to go to… Continue
