I must admit, I'm not a big fan of Richard Dawkins or Steve Pinker for that matter. They're quite ethnocentric. As a feminist and someone who veers more towards the left, I can't stand their Darwinian style elitism. I'm looking for more equitable Athiest or Agnostic thinkers, if anyone could recommend anything please inbox or comment. I'm new to this site so go easy on me. Also any texts that criticize main theological issues in Islam would be great. Documentaries are also welcome. If you're…

Deconverting, well not really

Up until recently I had been a believer, but never a true christian. I got baptized at about 12 years old but never read the bible, I just believed in god and didn’t want to hell. The church I went too is located in Franklinton, North Carolina. Don’t bother looking for it on the map because you probably wont find it. Anyways it was a black baptist christian church, but they was always shouting and acting a fool and all that shit. I think I seen somebody's head to a 360 turn like on the…

On the Means and Methods of Mass Deconversion Version 0.5

Hey all,

I'm restoring a blog I previously deleted. Hope you enjoy!

The file is too large to insert all of it here (its a book, really), so I've provided an excerpt that should give you a feel for what  it is about. You can download the entire document in word format here:…

Government petition against creationism in UK schools.

I would appreciate your support to raise awareness about  this petition to the US government about discouraging creationism in UK schools and forcing all schools to teach evolution as part of science.

To sign the petition you have to be a UK citizen or resident, so if you are or know of any, please sign it or make them aware of it, respectively.…

Richard Dawkins vs Noah's Ark

I'm currently reading Dawkins' The Greatest Show on Earth and in Ch. 9, "The Ark of the Continents" there's this great passage where he brings logic and evidence to bear upon the story of Noah and his Ark. Passages like these still resonate with me since when I was a child I was taught that the Noah story was the literal truth, and most, if not all of my family still believes it to be so. Which of course mystifies me to no end.

"It is almost too ridiculous to…

Is religion the Cause why we are good?

I have few other articles that I need to complete and publish, but I want to skip them over for a while to answer an important point that a pious christian is trying to ask me via the Amazon Book review I made for, "The god Delusion", a book by R. Dawkins.

Prelude

Are people good only because they strictly follow a Religion? This was the topic of chapter Six of Dawkins', “The god Delusion”, which he titled exactly, “The Roots of…

Spurred by the horrific suffering in Haiti, the Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science (RDFRS) has joined forces with 13 other freethought groups or associates, to collect donations to non-religious relief organizations. Those participating are Atheist Alliance International, Atheists Helping the Homeless, Atheists… Continue

Ray Comfort/Kirk Cameron vs RRS debate

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azoI6LMMPI0&feature=channel

just watched the Rational Response squad vs Kirk Cameron/Ray Comfort debate.....it was embarrassing on all sides including most of the audience questions. I saw a recent video he posted on youtube challenging Dawkins to a debate....what is this guy thinking? He cannot properly debate these two nonetheless a brilliant mind like Dawkins. I can… Continue

Dawkins, Harris, Hitchens may be rude, but they have been effective

The vehemence, perhaps even violence, with which Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris and Christopher Hitchens attack religious belief makes many people uncomfortable. Yes, they are rude, and a lot of atheists give them crap about it, but not me.

Sure, they all claim to have heard from people who have heard their rants and converted on the spot to atheism, but for the most part I think they preach to the choir, anger the faithful and amuse everyone else. However ineffective I think they are… Continue

Proof there is no god...

I purchased "The god delusion" maybe 2 years ago and read it and fell in love with it. Its funny, and I enjoy Dawkins writing style.

But My favourite part of the book is where he quotes Gaskings reconstructed "proof of goods non existence" by W. Grey:

1.The creation of the world is the most marvelous achievement imaginable.

2.The merit of an achievement is the product of (a) its intrinsic quality, and (b) the ability of its creator.

3.The greater the disability,… Continue

Books that Changed My Life (Repost)

I saw a posting recently by someone who described the books that changed their life. In an era of complete and total connection to TV, Internet, and Radio I thought the idea was excellent. If you haven't been reading books, I highly recommend that you take some time and head down to your local library to check them out.

Keep in mind, I rarely read books in school. After 5th Grade, I preferred to spend my time playing sports, building Legos, and screwing around. I could "get by" on… Continue
