Thirst (Bakjwi) Review - Seat Squirming Sensational

When the Catholic Church in Korea tries to cure a disease, the treatment has unexpected consequences: vampires – of a sort. Unconventional, uncomfortable, shocking, hysterical, and fantastically entertaining, Thirst (Bakjwi) made me squirm with stomach-turning delight.

Unsatisfied with his life, Father Sang-hyeon (Kang-ho Song) agrees to volunteer for a life-threatening medical experiment. The experiment goes as planned but the treatments have a serious side effect for Father… Continue

To be or not to be.... a militant atheist

I don't like the term "militant atheist". To me it's equivalent to "fanatical christians".

Now I don't like a lot of christians, but of course there are some that are nice and live a quiet and decent life, they believe in nonsense, but that just makes them nice plus ignorant.

A militant atheist to me conjures images of some person going around burning churches.

I don't think that is an image I want to portray as an atheist.

I think most atheists are peaceful and… Continue

National Day of Prayer

Today (May 7, 2009) is the "National Day of Prayer", which became a law in 1952 under President Harry Truman after Rev. Billy Graham lead a six-week crusade in Washington. Believers and nonbelievers alike have spoken out against a government sanctioned day of prayer.

J. Brent Walker, executive director of the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty, said "it is not the government's job to tell the American people what, where or when… Continue

Fraternity Alpha Delta Phi Comes Out To Westboro Baptist Church

On March 9, 2009 the crazed Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) set their sights on the University of Chicago. In customary WBC fashion, the members displayed god related hate speech with unabashed delight. The event took on almost a festive atmosphere as counter protesters refused to take the fundamentalist wack-jobs seriously. Unwilling to go unnoticed amongst the roasting marshmallows and clever signs, the Chicago Chapter of Alpha Delta Phi launched… Continue

Preaching the truth...

A monumentous thing happened to me yesterday.

I was ordained.

I am now a Minister for The Universal Church Triumphant of the Apathetic Agnostic.

It's a simple premise on which to actually base a church... a church is simply a formalised group of people who have basically the same view on God, right? So why not?

The church isn't made up only of people who define themselves as agnostic, there are weak atheists who accept that gods cannot be disproven, and… Continue

The Separation of Church and State

Why should we care about the separation of church and state? Is the division of government and religion a good thing? What does this concept even mean?

The term “separation of church and state” does not appear anywhere in the US Constitution. What does appear, however, are these words in the First Amendment, stating that “Congress shall make no laws respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof …”

So, people are…

Roman Catholicism - the Big Mac of religion

OK, for you non-churchies, I will school you on some of the basics of what it's like going to a Catholic church. Hopefully the institution will go the way of the DoDo, facial hair on men, and disco and what I'm writing here will be THE definitive/wikipedia description of what church is like. Cause of course what I'm writing here is all true (yeah right).

For the Roman Catholic, church is 1 hour (should be, no more no less). You forgive if they go over a LITTLE because hey, you're a… Continue
