Can't make this stuff up, folks. You think if this happened in Rome the Vatican would give him sanction?

Father John Fiala, 52, was arrested last week in Dallas County after he was caught on tape by investigators trying to hire a hit man to kill the teen who's accused Fiala of sexual abuse.
Attorney Tom Rhodes said as shocking as the…

The day the Church dies there will be no sounds of joy among the godless:
No horns blown or parades thrown,
Rejoicing in the streets or marching to the beat,
No angels from Heaven to smite us down,
No Devil to laugh at our descent.
The end of the world will still belong to the sun,
When the Church takes its final breath
On a day no different than today
In a world with problems unfit for gods.
Where a frock is suitable only for Halloween;
A relic of a…

This just in - Gabriele Amorth is the head of the Vatican's exorcism office (
link).
In other news....
the Vatican has an exorcism office.
Holy S, who knew? I used to watch a fair amount of the ghost hunting shows and they would always toss in the disclaimer that the church doesn't officially acknowledge exorcisms. I had always assumed that even they knew…

Well, this weekend is my nephews Baptism (which I refuse to attend on principal) and it reminded me of how I defected from the Catholic Church a few month ago. You see, I was raised Catholic and while I know that Baptism is a meaningless ceremony, I also disliked that having my name listed in the Baptismal records still counted me as a member. I was a statistical figure that, while I was no longer a believer, I was being counted in their totals that they use to secure power and influence. I…

finally, after five years in florida, i will be heading back to the bronx next month. i am so glad that i will finally escape this state. there are tons of great people in florida, and a lot of atheist and freethinker groups, but most are a good drive from me, and i never get to go to any of the meetings. i've yet to even attend a meeting for the local freethinker group because of scheduling conflicts.
it's going to be an interesting move. although i'll be moving to a much more liberal…

A Simple Solution to World Hunger - Stephanie Foran
“Sell the Vatican, feed the world” (Silverman, 2009). It’s a saying that has recently started circulating the Internet. Sarah Silverman, a popular comedian, made a video and posted it to the popular video-sharing website YouTube, and her movement quickly caught on. Initially coined for…

What are your thoughts on what is the worst religion around? In my opinion it is the Catholic church. From a biblical perspective they got it all wrong. But far worse then that they have been the most violent over the years, i.e. the crusades(the pope actually supported the killings of "infidels" the same as the Muslims do today), the killings of millions over the centuries through various inquisitions, Hitler was a Catholic, they have used confession as a form of blackmail for political…

I'm starting to feel... um... not prolific.
Well, I need to point out that I'm finding it difficult to come up with good content to keep all of my blogs updated. Suddenly, I happen to have four sites/pages/blogs...
So, I have posted a new entry on my ongoing site.
How Do You Do?
Listen to this song keeping in mind that Shakira, the singer/songwriter, is a Colombian young lady who has always been Catholic… apparently she is questioning her beliefs and trying to…

When the Catholic Church in Korea tries to cure a disease, the treatment has unexpected consequences: vampires – of a sort. Unconventional, uncomfortable, shocking, hysterical, and fantastically entertaining, Thirst (Bakjwi) made me squirm with stomach-turning delight.
Unsatisfied with his life, Father Sang-hyeon (Kang-ho Song) agrees to volunteer for a life-threatening medical experiment. The experiment goes as planned but the treatments have a serious side effect for Father…

I went to a place called the AOG (Assembly Of God) it was here that i thought i would give religion a try
however i had everyone coming up to me with this big hollywood type smile, old ladies hugging me young guys shaking my hand etc.
The preaching started and certain verses like you can be saved were spoken to which the pastor would look right at me when saying those certain types of verses, then the collection plate came around and people were flipping money in it all over the…

Miss D. C.
Lately your boredom has resulted in odd questions that I resolve to answer in this chain. When it is on your wall, everyone can see it and I don't like having people read my conversations because I am not a very well thought out person and it is awkward.
Your athiesm. It's not that I have a problem with Athiests. I try very hard to be open to all sorts of beliefs because I know that I do not know much about other religions/nonreligious ideas. However it…

In 2008 the
reported number of claims against catholic priests for sexual abuse
rose 16%, in the US. Found by a study commissioned by the US Conference of Catholic Bishops. The

More and more we see religious groups trying to push their agenda into laws, politics, and the government. Too many in the general religious populous think God has been kicked out of government, and they want him back in there. But what happens when the roles are reversed, and government proposes to push its policy into religion?
The church cries 'foul' and sputters quotes about 'the separation of church and state' and then holds a rally to gather support to stop the… Continue
