I must admit, I'm not a big fan of Richard Dawkins or Steve Pinker for that matter. They're quite ethnocentric. As a feminist and someone who veers more towards the left, I can't stand their Darwinian style elitism. I'm looking for more equitable Athiest or Agnostic thinkers, if anyone could recommend anything please inbox or comment. I'm new to this site so go easy on me. Also any texts that criticize main theological issues in Islam would be great. Documentaries are also welcome. If you're…

"The God Virus: How Religion Infects Our Lives and Culture" by Darrell Ray.

For anyone who has read Richard Dawkins' wonderfully crafted "The God Delusion" (if you haven't, go get a copy NOW) I recommend this book: "The God Virus: How Religion Infects Our Lives and Culture" by Darrell Ray.... anyone else read it or other like it?

My venture into the Audio Quran.

So, I have started listening to the Audio Quran, since I have never read it before, and I have decided to keep a running journal of the lessons I can take away from it.

So far, 2 chapters in (roughly 2 hours) this is what I have learned.

Day 1:

- Fasting wards off evil.

- The longer you fast, the more healthy you will be.

- Slay all disbelievers, until religion is for Allah.

- Don't eat pork.

My view of the Koran burnings.

I've been thinking a lot about this whole burning the Koran business. So much that I woke up less than an hour ago thinking about it to the point where I think I should get it all out on 'paper'. I've had some Atheist friends talk about this on facebook and I have to admit, I've been less then honest when they've brought it up about my real standpoint. Some of these friends also being friends of mine on here so I might be exposing myself, meh.

So here's the thing. I really trully…

Do you like to read?

I feel a bit shady posting this as my very first blog; I blog on my other site (greengeekgirl.com) and rarely think to migrate the blogs over here. I'm looking for a few intelligent readers, though, so I'm pressing on!

Note: This is absolutely and positively an attempt to get cool new members for my book group.  But don't be fooled--I'm not mass-spamming this all over every site that I visit.  I'm concentrating my efforts on the few sites where I will find intelligent,…

Let’s REGRESS…not PROGRESS!

I live in Texas.

I’ve always been an atheist.

All my life I’ve had to put up with these bible pounding clowns who think their “Manure” does not stink.

Well it does.

I’ve seen these clown just ruin a college.

At first there were no preachers on the Board of Regents.

Then one day there was one.

Then two.

The next thing you knew all the Regents were preachers.

That lead to the demise of the college.

It lost it’s… Continue

My Aunt's Crusade, Part II

As discussed in my previous blog, the books my aunt promised to send arrived today. She sent me Josh McDowell's The New Evidence That Demands a Verdict and Answers to Tough Questions Skeptics Ask About the Christian Faith. I have just over three weeks off from college for the holidays and I hope to have the books read within that time. I will also be posting my thoughts, questions, and interesting quotes from the books on here for your entertainment.

Thanks to everyone… Continue

Books that Changed My Life (Repost)

I saw a posting recently by someone who described the books that changed their life. In an era of complete and total connection to TV, Internet, and Radio I thought the idea was excellent. If you haven't been reading books, I highly recommend that you take some time and head down to your local library to check them out.

Keep in mind, I rarely read books in school. After 5th Grade, I preferred to spend my time playing sports, building Legos, and screwing around. I could "get by" on… Continue
