Blogging for logic // Religious assumptions

Greetings all!

I haven't posted on TA for a while but have been lurking the site and enjoying everyone's videos and blogs. Regrettably, my free time has been at a premium, and jumping in to discussions right at the deep end is what has ultimately suffered. That said, I've recently decided to try my hand at blogging as a stress outlet, and to put my usual ramblings and reactions into written words. My most recent posting was of a theological nature, so I figured I'd share it with…

Re-posting my Bible reviews on Think Atheist

Hi all,

I've just joined the Think Atheist community.  Not long ago I created a Twitter account for my blog, An Atheist Reviews the Bible, and I began to follow this site's Twitter feed despite not really knowing what Think Atheist was all about.  I finally decided to take the plunge and sign up.

A little about myself: I'm a lifelong atheist, never having believed in a deity.  I was raised in a happy…

Just A new one.

My first blog.. let's hope we don't get bored?

I have been working alongside people of whom moved to my country from India. When i started my job (my FIRST job at 16) I hoped i could be guided and helped along the way. Don't get me wrong- i was; by the owner. He (who came from KENYA and INDIA) left us in charge when he thought i was able to sustain the shop on my own (after three months) Which meant i was left to work around my manager and three colleagues (one of which no…

Fibonacci Sequence

Hey gang,

I was looking at some science tattoos, and one was of 'The Golden Spiral' which depicts the Fibonacci sequence in graphic form. I then decided to look at videos on YouTube about this formula, and came upon this fantastic and beautiful video explaining it. Now I see this 'sequence'  as a way of nature to develop in the most efficient way possible, maximizing the energy of the sun,…

I am an atheist musician. This is an article I wrote about the spiritual side of creativity.

Jawshack.com/blog/spirituality-in-creativity/ - This is a link to my own blog. I just really prefer the formatting at my Wordpress. I would love to hear your thoughts, as so far the only comments are from my mom who "didn't understand parts" and from a preacher defending the resurrection as being true beyond all doubt.

Also, yay, just joined an atheist website! Any other musicians in Los…

Getting my Panties in a Bunch over a Not-That-Innocent Super Bowl ad.

Yesterday I allowed myself to get riled up about the Tebow family's Focus on the Phallic - er Family - Anti-Choice- oops - Pro-Life Super Bowl ad. I try my best to avoid rants on my Hot-For-Jesus Former Fundie blog. Rants just polarize the issue and cause eyes to glaze over. Whenever something pops up worthy of an opinion… Continue

Scary YouTube Messages

So first off, apparently a group of Internet Christians have been trying to get people on YouTube to... well what they're trying to do is actually my first question. I don't know what their intent is. Some of my vidder friends (we all are the vidding community because we all make fanvideos - music videos using clips from our favorite movies and TV shows) said they had received similar messages in the past. I talk to many of these vidder friends of mine on twitter, so to share my extreme… Continue

Science as Religion

This is mostly a repost from Greg Fish's blog "Weird Things" titled "Why You Should Honor Thy Scientists". I often consider science as my "religion", but really what I mean is that I trust science to be the best thing available to tell me about reality. However, some theists will try to posit that science is just another faith based religion, playing a little… Continue

Atheist Blogs Ranking List [UPDATED]

the Atheist A Before I post this link, I just want to reiterate that Think Atheist is the site I hit first every morning, camp way too much throughout the day, and typically check last before going to bed. Morgan has created something truly unique here, and it cannot be matched. (Ok, done kissing ass now) I'm sure most of you, like me, have a few other atheist bookmarks you like to check though (or a list of RSS feeds).

I just stumbled upon this… Continue

Discovering the secularist cause (New article at Examiner)

Here's my latest at Examiner.com, under my new title, "DC Secularism Examiner." It's a brief history of what brought me to writing about atheist activism.

A taste:

As I put my career in professional theatre temporarily aside (populated by a generally liberal and socially tolerant demographic) and toward politics, I came to realize that while my own…

First post; glad to be here.

I am so glad I found this community; so glad I have joined.

Already I am seeing other like minded people on this website that think just like me; yep we atheists actually use our brain for thinking unlike non-atheists who just go along with what the church tells them.

I am so sick of religious bullshit going on in the world; we need to not ban religion but take religion out of governments, schools and other places where they can be harmful to the human… Continue

Disappointments of mankind

Another angry, pompous blog :D

I'm enveloped in a sea of people. I can feel my brain cells dying. Looking at the condition of the human race it can make one feel like crying. So many people following and never once questioning. Tragically complacent. People who feed on delusions, who obtain sustenance from the lies. Needing to be herded like sheep. Quite literally though. Is it ...the Lord is my Sheppard. It is disappointing really, that intellect is such a rare attribute. That… Continue
