Ben Stein, The Propagandist (or Arrogant Prophet?)

I don't like to ridicule people. Well, not unless they ridicule, first. I try to avoid it because it's rarely productive, except maybe when it's like preaching that excites the choir. Sometimes Ben Stein's angry preaching gets me excited.

Here's an outtake of his latest writing for The American Spectator. If it sounds like I'm taking it out of context,…

Slavery Is Fine as Long as It Gets People Closer to God!

So last night, I got into a very heated, very emotional debate with someone on Facebook.  In case you didn't know, that's what Facebook is for.  You get on there, you find some post that some friend has put up, and you troll the shit out of it.  That, obviously, is a joke, but it can sometimes be seen as truth.  I took screen captures of the conversation with the woman I was "debating," but in order to keep identities private, I will not post those screen caps, even though I feel her…

No Tolerance For Intolerance.

I don't have a lot of tolerance for intolerance.

I guess I'm just a bigot in that way.

Homophobia, racism, sexism, nationalism, and the mother-effing grand-daddy of all intolerance, religion. Religion not only perpetuates intolerance, it spends a hefty amount of time and money enforcing it through government officials.

When I hear someone use a homophobic slur, I get quietly offended. When I hear someone say something incredibly racist, I'll speak up and calmly… Continue

Taco Bell Showdown!

Okay, maybe not a showdown, persay, but still awesome...

I went to Taco Bell today because I was hungry and wanted to try the new XXL Chalupa (for the record, it is fucking awesome).

Anyways, it was pretty busy. The store itself was pretty full (I was getting my food to go, though, so I wasn't looking for a seat). Luckily, there was only one guy in front of me. There was a 6-person family in front of him, but they had already started ordering when I got in line. 4 other people… Continue

AreAmericans bigots and racists? I was once more listening to Rush Limaugh rant about plans to build the ‘ground O mosque’. An unlikely moment occurred though that confounded this bigot and racist.…

Help fight child molestation by catholic priests one community at a time!

An Open Letter to My Fellow Godless Heathens,

I am really desperate here. I have been called a bigot for speaking out against the Catholic church! If it at all possible I would really appreciate a tweet in support (if you are in agreement of course) of my essay that challenges the Pope and the laity in their handling of the continuing problem of priests raping and molesting young children. My editorial was published in the Wednesday Journal a local newspaper in Oak Park, IL which is… Continue

Us vs. Them

There are two diametrically opposed forces at work in human evolution. Biology wants diversity, that's why we have sex; to stir up the gene pool. Diversity increases the chances that at least some of our species will survive a catastrophic event.

Social pressure wants uniformity. My tribe is good, other tribe is bad. Those like me should be protected, those that are different should be destroyed. I think that that is the real basis of racism, sexism, homophobia, religious and all other… Continue

Offending The Offensive

I've come to a conclusion. Far too many atheists are far too willing to just accept the prejudices of religious people as being "their right" and far to unwilling to step up and call bullshit on obvious prejudice and bigotry.

This stems from an argument I had with my girlfriend last night, well not so much a true argument really. Let's call it a heated discussion. Let me give you some background, she is currently attending college online at the University of Phoenix. One of her… Continue

"Why Do You Hate God/Believers So Much?"

Hello everyone, it's been quite a while. Stupid real life infringing on my blogging and video gaming time. Grrr.

Anyway, things have finally begun to slow down again at work and home and I'm hoping to be able to get back to blogging more regularly here on T|A as it's been an excellent release for me since I found the site. The topic of my first blog in my return is a question (or rather two variations of a question) that I get asked quite a bit both online and off. If you haven't… Continue

Why Is Religion Still Allowed To Stand In The Way Of Basic Human Rights?

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;

*NO* law respecting an establishment of religion. It seems pretty black and white to me, no law shall be created on the grounds of religious belief. Yet here we are 200 years later still fighting against it every day one multiple fronts. Abortion and contraceptives, assisted suicide, life support, gay rights - indeed despite this 200 year old rule of the… Continue
