First time i found disbelief as a kid

Hi, i just stumbled upon this site and decided I would share one of the first moments of disbelief in Christianity or deity.

It was back in maybe 2002 when i was in 2nd grade. I might have been about 8 or 9 at the time. I was living with my grandparents (who raised me as a christian) and we were watching a lot of dinosaur documentaries on discovery channel. So for the next week i had been contemplating the prehistoric creatures. I came to a conclusion of how Rhinoceros' were…

Another reason religion is a bad, bad, thing (like we needed another one)

Image being 15 years old, your parents have just sent you and your siblings to your aunt's house for christmas. Upon arrival, you are accused of being a sorcerer and tortured as such, and by christmas day, you have begged for the release and peace of death and are finally drowned.

I found the following link while browsing for my morning news: …

Let's Put Claus Back Into Christmas

Let’s Put Claus Back Into Christmas:

A modest proposal

Remember Christmas when you were a child?

The Season was a time to come together as family and friends...and even make Peace with your enemies for at least a few days.  Christmas was all about bringing people together.  Religious differences were just like social class or politics or even gender...every town was like Mayberry and had their…

The Myth of the Risen Christ - The Problem of the Historical Jesus & The Origins of Christian Tradition

Last night I posted a video of an interview with Dr. Matt McCormick that argues against the reliability for the evidence of Jesus’ resurrection by comparing it to the Salem Witch Trials. The argument is amusing and reasonably makes sense, although in an interview he had on Think Atheist Radio, May, 8th, he admitted he didn’t think anyone would really bite on the bullet, so to speak. It turns out that there exist those who have.

One of the people commenting on the…

Defeating the Bible , One chapter at a Time! (Genesis Chapter 4)

Chapter 4 hath arrived!!

Let’s groove tonight!!

“The man had relations with his wife Eve, and she conceived and bore Cain, saying, "I have produced a man with the help of the LORD." Next she bore his brother Abel. Abel became a keeper of flocks, and Cain a tiller of the soil. In the course of time Cain brought an offering to the LORD from the fruit of the soil, while Abel, for his part, brought one of the best firstlings of his flock. The LORD looked with favor on…

The Holy Dinner - My evening with a priest

(note: this event actually took

place last year but I thought it would be interesting to copy it from my

other blog)

So the big evening finally arrived. I was going to be dining with a local priest.

Father Pat was all that he was said to

be and then some. He was well-read, well-spoken, affable and at times

blasphemous. I know that many of you read my post yesterday and

probably thought that there was going to be some kind of showdown at my… Continue

in the garden?" The woman answered the serpent: "We may eat of the

Diary of a Wimpy Kid - A Perfect Dump and Run Movie

Sixth grader Greg Heffley learns important lessons about friendship, being a good friend and identity in Diary of a Wimpy Kid. A light-hearted, middle-school buddy movie, Diary of a Wimpy Kid is a perfect dump and run movie.

Entering middle school wasn’t as easy as Greg Heffley (Zachary Gordon) anticipated. Some of the kids are way bigger than him. The same things that are cool in elementary school become a badge of shame in middle school. Greg does everything he can to fit in and be… Continue

Why?(and what?)

Why is there a God?

There a billions of stars in a galaxy and millions of galaxies in the universe. Many of these stars aren't even medium yellow like our sun. The odds of a planet forming to Earth-like standards are actually microscopic, even if other planet types can form the basics of life. Our planet is one tiny speck in a vast universe. I would almost call it insignificant.

What makes you think we're the center of some grand cosmic scheme of some importance?

If God is so… Continue

Defeating the Bible--One Chapter at a Time (Genesis Chapter 1)

This is to become a new segment I will be posting on Think Atheist and on Atheist Nexus.

The point of this new series of blog posts would be the weekly defeating of a chapter of the Christian Bible.

That said, let us start; in the beginning. (Pun intended)

In the first chapter of Genesis the creation of the world—in the Christian view—takes six days with one day for relaxation.

“In the beginning, when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was… Continue

Cold is the Absence of Heat, Evil is the Absence of God

Another one of these? How many do we really have to suffer through/debunk before people start listening to facts?

Rather than type it all out (again), I made a video response. Since I can’t use plain logic to level with these people, I had to try and turn their own logic back on them. Tell me how you think it panned… Continue

A Christmas Carol - More Like a Christmas Crisis

Animated and in 3D, Charles Dickens’ beloved holiday story, A Christmas Carol, spills onto screens again. A garish demonstration of the capabilities of the new 3D technology, the story only pops out when it possesses an opportunity to show off the technology.

Scrooge (Jim Carrey) is a miserly old man who holds tight each penny in his pocket. After his business partner, Marley (Gary Oldman) dies, Scrooge loses all perspective, turning even surlier than he was before. Devoid of all… Continue
