PBS Frontline expose "Secrets of the Vatican" rather shocking at times.

The recently broadcast documentary by Frontline on the inner workings of the Vatican in Rome was quite illuminating and, at times, shocking. Accusations of the Vatican Bank laundering large amounts of underworld money, homosexual activity among, not only the priests, but the highest ranked Vatican officials,  mishandling of the pedophilia scandal , and the continuing power struggle between Pope and Cardinals are all brought to light. I was especially shocked by the video evidence that…

Vatican Scavi Tour

I made my good Christian Pilgrimage to see the bones of St Peter recently. Alright, maybe it wasn't as a Christian, but it's something very sought after by some Christians and Catholics. In my case, I was travelling to Italy, including Rome, seeing the Vatican anyways, and my wife ran across the tour. Normally it's way too busy to get in and you have to make reservations months in advance. Since we were travelling in November, we got in with like six weeks notice. I was excited. I love…

WikiLeaks reveals Vatican's lack of willingness to cooperate with sex abuse investigations

(ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED IN SU NOMBRE EN VANO)

But the Wikileaks cables are one of the most concrete pieces of evidence (perhaps the most concrete) that we have about the Vatican’s hypocrisy and how unwilling Ratzinger and his minions are to…

Liberal Religionists: A Lesser of Two Evils?

I know I said I was going to post about something else first, but I've been thinking about this topic a lot lately.

As I'm sure most of you know, a few days ago, the Catholic Church offered something of a warped olive branch to the Anglican Church, saying that if any of their members were unsettled by the fact that the Anglicans were (gasp!) allowing women and gays to be ministers, they could simply defect back to the Catholics, where a warm and welcomed seat would be waiting for… Continue

The Vatican Is Hard At Work Proving Their Hypocrisy

You gotta love the Vatican. All in one weekend they've lifted the excommunication of a bishop that denies the Holocaust ever happened (http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/europe/01/26/pope.holocaust.denial/index.html) and slammed President Barack Obama for lifting the ban on U.S. funding for foreign family planning groups because some of those groups support abortion (http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1873904,00.html).

So what's the message here? Killing babies is evil - unless… Continue
