The Republicans accelerate their downward spiral

Robert Reich said it right in this Huffington Post article:

It's as if they didn't learn a thing from the 2012 elections. Republicans are on the same suicide mission as before -- trying to block immigration reform (if they can't scuttle it in the Senate,…

Who's Your Daddy?

Recently, Representative Todd Aiken (R -- Missouri) caused a furor when he stated that victims of "legitimate rape" rarely get pregnant.  Soon, he was on his heels, backtracking and trying to save his race for a senate seat.  Sharon Barnes, a member of the Missouri Republican committee tried to explain his comment.  Ms. Barnes "echoed Mr. Akin’s statement that very few rapes resulted in pregnancy, adding that 'at that point, if God has chosen to bless this person with a life, you don’t kill…

Dominionism: Rick Perry vs. the Harlot of Babylon

Last week, I was successfully ignoring Rachel Maddow in favor of a good book, when some particularly insane religious prophesy rattled out of the speakers and hijacked my conscious. "Oprah is the Harlot of Babylon...?"  I smiled, set down my book, and tuned in for the lolz.  Well, it wasn't comedic as much as horrifying.  No longer blissfully ignorant, I feel it is my patriotic duty to inform you of yet another republican who believes he communicates with God and who is hot…

SATAN'S TOY OR A GODLY WOMAN?

It is always hard to come up with a candidate that is ‘right’ for America, but the Republicans have done so this time round with Pro Truth, Anti-Masturbation Candidate, Christine O’Donnell. Finally a knowledgeable, intelligent candidate who has the guts to deal with the serious issues facing our troubled nation.

Coming out of the primary corner with snappy foot-work and a…

The Right Cannot Address Immigration

The political right has been making a lot of noise about illegal immigration. Consistently they blame the immigrants for the problem. This tactic does not address the source of the problem, nor is it consistent with right-wing thinking. This is a lighting rod issue. You'll be hard pressed to find someone openly not oppose illegal immigration from the right. But can the Republicans address illegal immigration? Not unless they want to cannibalize themselves. The Right loves to cite the Laffer… Continue

In my America

I posted this on my Facebook page on July 4th and have decided to share it here. I hope you enjoy it.

In My America.

I’d like to take a few minutes and share what I think of America on her birthday and where I’d like to see her go in the future.

America is my home and I love her, but it makes me sad to see some of the ways that we, as a people, have been steering her.

In my America, torture is not tolerated under any circumstances. There is no false… Continue
