Little Lessons in Western History

Sylvester II – The Scientist Pope

He arose from humble beginnings as a monk to the papacy on account of his scientific knowledge, not in spite of it. In his day, the earth was not flat. People were not terrified that the world would end at the stroke of midnight on December 31, 999. Christians did not believe Muslims and Jews were the devil’s spawn.

The Church was not anti-science: just the reverse. Mathematics ranked among the highest forms of worship, for… Continue

The Wise Woman of Somalia

For the past decade, Ayaan Hirsi Ali has stood at the forefront of new thought in the philosophy of Islam and its explanation, and Europeans have plenty to learn from her brave commitment to Enlightenment values – in the face of all that extremism.

Ali will…

Letter to a Muslim Atheist

All the gods of the pagans are demons"

~ Psalms ~

Dear Sons and Daughters of Ishmael:

As a former Muslim you have certainly read the Koran, and quite probably learned to memorize it in childhood.

So I have some questions:

1. According to the Koran it is blasphemy to call God “Father” or “Abba”?

2. Does the prophet Mohammad recognize God as Father?

3. What about the Holy Spirit? Is the Holy Spirit present in the Koran?…

Time to say Goodbye to American Puritan Superstition

(And all my gratitude to Think Atheist - HAPPY 2011, Guys!)

It has been a really bad experience of drug-like intoxication with American religious fantasies which transmitted to other areas of knowledge transformed my life in an erratic and painful trip through the darkness of other people's hallucinations. But I have this one marvelous good which preserves me: I am not ashamed to learn history and I am very grateful to the ones who created web-sites like…

Stupid But also Funny: Islam is instinctual

Islam is instinctual, there is a hadith that says a newborn is born instinctually, unless his parents raise him as a jew, christian or a majoosi(it's an arabic word for people who worship fire).

So if you let a baby grow up with no teaching of any religion, he/she will become a muslim eventually.

But then when I was just 5-7 years old & I was told that god(allah) created everything, why did the first thing that came to my mind was "who created god?" ? Wasn't…

"Nietzsche and the Death of God" from Martin S Pribble

From Martin S Pribble

"God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives: who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean…

'The "New Atheism" is not new at all' - from Martin S Pribble blog

from Martin S Pribble blog

I have too many things floating around my head right now to make a real point with this blog entry, so bear with me while I go on a cathartic rant.

I have recently seen a lot of criticisms about the "New Atheist Movement" saying it's disruptive and threatens to destroy society and all it holds dear. Some even say it will cause the end of the world. Most of the criticism is aimed at the so-called… Continue

Angela Merkel and Multiculturalism

Now that German Chancellor Angela Merkel has pronounced multiculturalism a failure, it's time to look at why. I don't think it's any mystery that what she's really talking about is Muslim immigrants. When she speaks of integrating into the community and adopting German values, she's speaking of Muslims. It's about time she's recognized that Muslim immigrants, as a whole, don't really care about Germany or it's values -- other than its welfare programs, of course.

The Muslim mindset is… Continue

What if: Christianity were as young as Islam?

I'm thinking about writing a post on my personal blog about if Christianity were as young as Islam. Would we be currently experiencing the Crusades and worrying about the nuclear war being caused by Religious war against other faiths?

Are both Islam and Christianity evolving in the same way? Or is Islam more violent that Christianity has ever been? The timelines are similiar: Islam started in the 6th century AD and the Crusades were happened in 11th-13th centuries. Now…

"We’re All Doomed, Time To Get Positive! (part 1)" from Atheist Climber Blog

From Atheist Climber Blog

The world is in some real strife at the moment. We are approaching a point where experts believe that we will live in an unsustainable way within the next few years, and the population of Earth will reach 9 billion by the middle of this century. While it is true that, for the majority of people living on Earth today, our lives have improved in health and… Continue

Arrogance through Helplessness

This article is extremely self-humiliating and pathetic. The author is borderline denigrating about him/herself and covertly insulting every human being on the planet.

I find it despicable and shocking that someone can clothe so much arrogance and haughty self-righteousness in such seemingly soft, generic humility. Their self-righteousness seems largely founded on an unspoken belief that the person who can make themselves appear as… Continue

"The Atheist Re-Enlightenment" from Atheist Climber blog

From Atheist Climber Blog

I have often wondered why it is that we are seeing an uprising of voices in the world of skeptical inquiry and atheism in the mainstreams of the world. And I wonder why it is that I am so heavily entrenched in this to feel it is important in my life to put so much effort into this blog at this point in time. Maybe I'm a little slow on the uptake, but it seems to me… Continue

Islam: Why the Separation of Church and State Must be Absolute

With license from God to wipe out cities, kill all the males and take all the females, the Old Testament is every bit as violent and hateful as the Quran (if not more so). But modern Judeo-Christian religions and their adherents ignore these antiquated verses. Islam, on the other hand, has not enjoyed the same kinds of reforms that Christianity and Judaism have. Extreme violence might be shared by both scriptures but, as a percentage of text, the Quran exhorts the faithful to violence more than… Continue

Zakir Naik

BBC article:

An Indian Muslim preacher has been banned from entering the UK for his "unacceptable behaviour", the home secretary says.

Zakir Naik, a 44-year-old television preacher, had been due to give a series of lectures in London and Sheffield.

Theresa May said that visiting the UK was "a privilege, not a right".

The home secretary can stop people entering the UK if she believes there is a threat to national… Continue

The Bible vs. The Quran

I posed this question to someone called CreationPhysics on Twitter (please try to ignore the glaring oxymoron) but I received no reply.

Christians claim to know that the Bible is the inerrant word of God because of fulfilled prophecies, among other things which I will touch on in a moment. However, the argument of fulfilled prophecies is one of the most frequently used argument I have personally encountered in my debates with… Continue

"Crimes Against Women and Children in the Name of Islam" from Atheist Climber Blog

From Atheist Climber Blog

Mohammed, the prophet of the Islamic world, married his last bride Aisha when she was just six years old, and the consummated the marriage with her when she was just nine years old. In Islamic states, partly because of this precedent, this practice still happens in fundamentalist countries like Afghanistan. Muslims will say that a child of six… Continue

Muslim Calls for Censorship Under the Guise of 'Religious Intolerance'

I'm a member of the website DeviantArt.com. For those of you who don't know what it is, it's basically a site where people can post anything ranging from photographs, to drawings, to written works, even flash programs.

The site recently added the ability to create a group, where artists with similar interests can more easily share their work.
One of the more entrepreneurial atheists on the site decided to start a group titled…
