Anyone who has read Augustine's Confessions will know his views on God. One view that I have been thinking about is how God is unchanging. One thing God must not have, to fit this description (according to Augustine), is emotions. This is something that many Christians and Catholics would agree with. However, there is a problem because in the Bible there is evidence of God having emotions. Take the First of the Ten Commandments:
“You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any… Continue

Not that the avowed atheist has any doubts himself.

For those who may not have heard of him, Dan Savage is a gay rights activist - and an outspoken atheist. He engages in many talks around the country, and in the media, concerning gay rights; and since the fight against gays is almost always religious in nature, he tends to call out the contradictions and overall hostility within the Bible.
There's a pretty popular video of him speaking at a high school journalism convention the overall speech is about bullying, and gay bashing in… Continue

Thank you for sending me 27 tweets trying to save my soul, which i don't have from hell which does not exist upon being judged by a god that isn't there. Wanting me to go to a heaven, which does not exist is a nice though. It still bewilders me what i would do with 72 virgins, and would they stay virgins afterwards? How long would it be before all 73 of us would be bored by each other? Eternity can be a very long time you know.… Continue

I'm active on a few sites and there seems to be a few truths. One is that many atheists were at one time religionists. The ones that were once religionists seem to think that they have a monopoly on escaping religion. Their path out is the only way to escape religion. It's not unlike AA members. You must follow these 12 steps and keeping coming back because it works. Much like AA isn't THE way (or statistically, a way) there are many paths out of religion.
I make arguments against… Continue

So it is Christmas day and I have just arrived at my Grandparents home to celebrate as is the tradition and has been since I remember. One thing has changed since those days of old and that is my deconversion from fundamentalist christian into atheism. This is something that only my brother and his wife are aware of and even then we avoid the subject.
But I digress..
I had just arrived at my grandparents home and open the door to walk into the middle of a… Continue

Hey everyone, I have yet to stir another facebook debate/discussion with my status. This one started with me simply sharing a bible verse. I could really use and feedback you may have on how to continue to respond to my "friend" Ambri.Thanks.

I'm a member of the website DeviantArt.com
. For those of you who don't know what it is, it's basically a site where people can post anything ranging from photographs, to drawings, to written works, even flash programs.
The site recently added the ability to create a group, where artists with similar interests can more easily share their work.
One of the more entrepreneurial atheists on the site decided to start a group titled… Continue

It the Never ending stooooooooorrryyyyyyyy!!!! (And for those of you who have not seen the movie, Don't Watch It!)
Atheism Vs Theism is an old debate, a long and old debate.
I am a dedicated Atheist, I will fight with Theism on every front, but this old tired process of Atheism being the minority is getting on my Nerves!
Why must Atheism continue to be the minority?
The Debate reminds me of an analogy: Two kids are sitting in a sandbox, pulling on a… Continue

This has been going on since I was at school here in the UK (about 8 years... hmm feel old saying that) and suffice to say I'm tired of it.
First they said the Muslims wanted it changed, none of the Muslims I knew gave a rats ass about it being called Christmas! Some celebrated the traditional side of the festivities even.
Now, it's just general political correctness with a side of "it's the atheists!" throw in after the bus campaigns this year.
Next year? How about we blame… Continue

Hey guys, I just had an interesting event with a relative of a friends of mine. It started through a statement my friend Kevin made a quote from Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy:
"There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened."
In which a relative… Continue

(A quick side note about all of the names in the post: I'm terrible at names, and I can't really remember anyone's just yet. So they're probably wrong, or attributed to the wrong people. I might go back and fix them once I find out the actual names.)
Sorry for the delay in posting this. At first I was just going to take a small break over the weekend, then I caught the bug that was going around while at the local church picnic. (Apparently, that blessing of the food didn't do too… Continue

Firstly, I would like to thank everyone who has commented on my first post. The level of support is pretty amazing, and I've gotten plenty of great ideas already. Thanks a lot, everyone!
Now, on to the main point.
The first real debate I had with the Apologetics was a few days ago at their weekly meeting.
I got there a few minutes early, and sat near the front of the room, just listening to everyone. They really weren't talking about anything; someone needed an ethernet… Continue

I attend a small, local college in Northwest Florida, right along the southern part of the Bible Belt.
The college isn't very big, and just recently upgraded from a simple community college to a full four-year college. Many of us call it 13th grade, and it makes for a very tight-nit feeling with many of the students and professors, which is nice.
For as long as I've attended (over three years now, including dual-enrollment during the latter part of high school), there has always… Continue

Bother Sam has long since lost track of how many times somebody, usually a member of the Singleton clan, has said to him something along the lines of, “I refuse to believe that you are an atheist. You say you’re an atheist, but deep down you must still know that there’s a God.” And sometimes they append that last bit with “And he loves you.” It is at that point that BS typically has to excuse himself long to enough to retch up his breakfast grits. So in the blessed spirit of godly… Continue
