Oh that's a secular cross, not a religious one

Imagine a world where we were the ones claiming the cross is not a religious symbol. Perhaps there'd be a billboard claiming it for all of us. The christians would be furious.

 

And if they believed the claims made to justify crosses in classrooms or on public land were sincere, they would be even more outraged. One of their own! Disowning the cross. For shame! Jesus would be turning in his grave!

Astronauts and God?

I just finished watching a show on the Discovery Science channel, the show was about the mission in 2009 to fix the Hubble telescope and to replace the cameras on it, the show was called "Mission critical: Hubble" if any of you wanted to check it out.

 

The show began and the shuttle launched. The astronauts had a camera so they can document of course, but the man who was the most in front of this camera had a floating cross necklace, which took my attention and made me think…

The Cross As A Non-Religious Symbol?

For those following the case Salazar v. Buono that was argued in the U.S. Supreme Court this week, you may already know this. For those who don't, this should be interesting...



The case centers around a cross that was put up in 1934 in the Mojave National Preserve as a war memorial by the Veterans of Foreign Wars. It has been replaced several times and Easter services have been held there for about 70 years.
