* Hitler was NOT an atheist.
* Morality is not a “believers only” state of conscience. Morality existed before the Bible was put together and translated, etc.
* Do NOT pray for us or indicate the notion to perform your ritualistic mumbo jumbo. There are millions of others that are ill and starving that might appreciate your spells of madness. These are the people that your so called “God” ignores or… Continue

I remember telling a Christian about my disbelief in a god or ANY higher power. We used different philosophical scenarios to strengthen our own points of views during our debate/discussion. “Atheism vs. Christianity” debates are quite common in internet discussion forums, blogs and message boards. They are usually heated discussions and sometimes the name-calling begins. Once in a while a Christian will ask an atheist “What if you’re… Continue

On June 15, 2007, Ron Paul introduced HR 2755: Federal Reserve Abolition Act. There were no co-sponsors, no further action was taken, and the legislation was referred to the House Committee on Financial Services and effectively pigeonholed and ignored.
It's a bold and needed measure to "abolish the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and the Federal reserve banks, to repeal the Federal Reserve Act, and for other purposes."
The bill provides for management of… Continue

Researchers at the University of Rochester have shown that the human brain—once thought to be a seriously flawed decision maker—is actually hard-wired to allow us to make the best decisions possible with the information we are given. The findings are published in today's issue of the journal Neuron.
Neuroscientists Daniel Kahneman and Amos Tversky received a 2002 Nobel Prize for their 1979 research that argued humans rarely make rational decisions. Since then, this has become… Continue

Okay for those who already know I am a christian from birth. My parents are really super strict and I joined the site to further my knowledge of atheism. Also another reason I joined was because of that atheist sign that got stolen which I am sure you have heard on the news. the "enslavement of minds" part kinda made me start to look at atheism. Like i said in chat I have learned more about atheism in one day then my whole life.
anyways I can go more into details about this… Continue

As I'm sure many of you are experiencing, my family is celebrating a rather strict version of Christmas. Blasphemous or not, (there was a Stumble site that dealt with Christ Mass, etc, can't remember the name,) the truth is this cold season BEGS us to become close. So, be family even if we aren't. Being so very close to my family, even as an Atheist I shall call this Christmas. It's just a word? Yup. Exactly, but it explains my winter. I may not celebrate Christmas religiously, but the cold of… Continue

Thumping head, dry mouth, bleary eyes, patchy memory - the hangover fug is familiar to many. But why does alcohol make us feel so dreadful? Even though human beings have suffered from hangovers for thousands of years, we're still largely in the dark as to exactly why they happen, and how to cure them. Researchers this week revealed that many hangover cures simply don't work. The only sure-fire cure, they say, is not to get drunk in the first… Continue

There is something about the "I don't believe in God" definition of atheist that bothers me. Now maybe I am being too pedantic but doesn't that definition in some way implies there IS a God and I am just not believeing in it and that I am being stubborn?
I usually tell people I am an atheist because I believe there is NO God. I say as a skeptic and rational thinker, although I cannot say categorically that there actually is 100% NO God (as you can never prove the non-existance of… Continue

Someone recently asked me about this. Here you'll find the question and my answer.
The question: if you are on the Net that often with these extreme theists, why don't you take a bit of a break from it for a while. I realize the dangers of de-secularizing the state, etc., but if no one's going out of their way to directly change or affect you, maybe it's not necessary to engage them over the e-waves.

The traditions we associate with Christmas have evolved over the centuries. Here are answers to five questions about these traditions, from the date we choose to celebrate to the origin of Santa.
1. Why do we celebrate on December 25th?
The Bible makes no mention of Jesus being born on December 25th and, as more than one historian has pointed out, why would shepherds be tending to their flock in the middle of winter? So why is that… Continue

When a man and woman have joined together in a loving and holy marriage union, they may sometimes find that their love for one another and for God spills over outside of their relationship. Or they may find that other people are drawn to the joy, bliss, and passion that they radiate. In such situations, the desire or opportunity may arise to involve a third individual in their relationship – to form a threesome. Is this a temptation into sin, or a… Continue

Since the publication of our original article on anal sex and God’s will, we have received several inquiries asking to clarify God’s position concerning oral sex. We are gratified that so many Christians are hungry for the word of the Lord and are actively seeking the Truth so that they may fulfill His plan in all areas of their lives.
The Good News About Oral Sex
Like anal sex, oral sex is the subject of much confusion and disagreement… Continue

Are you saving yourself for your wedding night? The Devil wants you to fail, that’s why he puts stumbling blocks in your way. But God wants you to succeed, and that’s why he has given us an alternative to intercourse before marriage: anal sex. Through anal sex, you can satisfy your body’s needs, while you avoid the risk of unwanted pregnancy and still keep yourself pure for marriage.
You may be shocked at first by this idea. Isn’t anal sex (sodomy) forbidden by the Bible? Isn’t anal… Continue

I don't believe in a God, Gods, or God, but how I arrived here is most perplexing. I was raised Catholic; I was baptized, made my communion, my confirmation, and was good friends with a priest in my local parish and still am.
However, I've been cursed with curiosity. 'Why' and 'How' are two words that I can't put a leash on. I'm a voracious reader. I read everything: literature, science fiction, science fact, horror, biographies, memoirs, and mythology. Which leads me to, The Bible.… Continue

C would be Judaism - it's old and restrictive, but most of the world is familiar with its laws and respects them. The catch is, you can't convert into it - you're either into it from the start, or you will think that it's insanity. Also, when things go wrong, many people are willing to blame the problems of the world on it.
Java would be Fundamentalist Christianity - it's theoretically based on C, but it voids so many of the old laws that it… Continue

Four Americans in Milan.
As an American traveling in a foreign country, the last thing you want to do is stand out like a sore thumb. Not only do you have a greater chance of getting sucked into tourist traps, but you're also a more obvious target for getting mugged or even kidnapped. So, are you aware of the things you do, say, and wear that make you look like the stereotypical tourist?

I've been talking to a lot of my religious friends who think that I am going through a "crisis of faith", even though I've been an atheist for years now, and I'm getting more than a little annoyed by it.
A crisis of faith implies that I am struggling, that I am depressed, that I, in some way, anguish to be wrong over the issue.
There are plenty of atheists who see their disbelief as problematic, and wish that they might be… Continue

Fractals are the base of all creation. They are the blueprint that our universe was built from. Why then, would it not be the most natural thing in the world that everything conceivable is related in such a way, that it resembles a fractal?
When you look at a fractal, it has near photo copies of itself embedded in itself. Sort of like DNA for us. But in a fractal, every copy has a copy of itself, slightly different, embedded inside. This goes on, and on, and on...

For some it's the feeling of being a part of something much bigger than themselves. For others it's making real connections in a world of business cards and e-mails. For a few, it's escaping from the rat race long enough to remember their human.
For me, it's all three. I've been an Army brat 2/3 of my life. I've never had any true, lasting friendships. I grew up a loner, only because making new friends every two years quickly became monotonous, and for a kid, there are more important… Continue
