Hi
I felt like giving a brief introduction so as not to be rude, and to give a simple idea about the person I represent in real life.
So how's it going? I'm this guy who lives in Egypt, you know, the country with the pyramids. Anyway, I've been here a while and I must say this site is the best thing google has led me to in a long time.
I study Medicine in college, with a special interest in Neurology. I'm also really interested in Philosophy, Psychology,…

Due to a bizarre sequence of events, I live in Utah. I originally came from the "Bible belt", but even so, Utah was a whole new world to me. The vast majority of the state's population is Mormon. I was dimly aware of this before moving here over a decade ago, but the true meaning did not sink in until I'd been on the job for a few months. My first full-time job was at a then-major software company (Novell, not that it matters.) I…

(And all my gratitude to Think Atheist - HAPPY 2011, Guys!)
It has been a really bad experience of drug-like intoxication with American religious fantasies which transmitted to other areas of knowledge transformed my life in an erratic and painful trip through the darkness of other people's hallucinations. But I have this one marvelous good which preserves me: I am not ashamed to learn history and I am very grateful to the ones who created web-sites like…

In the world of faith healing, there is a need for an escape clause, something
which explains why it doesn't work. This, of course, is that it is always the fault
of the victim. If your cancer isn't cured, it isn't the healer's fault, it's just that you
didn't believe hard enough. If your arthritis is still there, well, you shouldn't have
jay-walked, should you!
This isn't a new idea of course. In biblical Palestine, the people of Israel had
a covenant with…

I often try to corner theists on theology. I face them with what their Bible says literally and/or at it's base. For example, your spiritual leader promises to come back as a mass murderer. He's the child of a rich man whom promises you a mansion if you'll just give up all of your money today for a promise. Where is it that TV Evangelists get it from again? More often than not, I'll get a disingenuous side step and they'll say that you need to listen to theologians or read a specific book.…

So it is Christmas day and I have just arrived at my Grandparents home to celebrate as is the tradition and has been since I remember. One thing has changed since those days of old and that is my deconversion from fundamentalist christian into atheism. This is something that only my brother and his wife are aware of and even then we avoid the subject.
But I digress..
I had just arrived at my grandparents home and open the door to walk into the middle of a…

So, I've been neglecting this community for a while because a) I was kinda busy and b) some people in it (yeah, looking at you Samia and any other antieuthers that I might have encountered) pissed me off. But I follow you guys on Twitter and most of the stuff that gets posted is actually pretty awesome (like the "Tenacious DNA" vid I just watched). So I'm giving TA another try - at least you are more likely to have brains than the average population ;-) I'm still pro-euth (and pro-eugenics)…

Hello everyone.
Well for before the holiday I requested that the theists in my family not give my children who are under the age of 4 religious gifts. Well they gave them "jesus crap" anyways. Which pissed me off a lot. So I made digital copies of the god delusion and put them in their mail boxes. My relatives were upset that I had done this…

My parents did not take me to church. (THANK YOU MOM!) I was not "indoctrinated" into any particular faith. But when I was young, before I knew about the advances of science, the first story I heard about the origin of Earth and man was the creation version. But my affiliation with religion was nonetheless, limited.
It all started when I was a metal-head, White Zombie t-shirt wearing, long haired high school teenager. I was going to a school in southeast Georgia, where…
