The Rock And The Rose.

The rock and the rose found each other.

Each thought they were like no other.

The rock liked the rock, so she shows.

The rock liked and stayed with the rose.

The rose liked the grass and the trees.

The rock liked the dirt and the dry breeze.

The rock became mean and harshly cruel.

The rose wished anything, even to be pulled.

To be somewhere new in a pretty vase,

was one wish. The other was to be erased.

But then she remembered about her…

Bible review: Deuteronomy 1-9

Do not say in your heart, after the LORD your God has thrust them out before you, ‘It is because of my righteousness that the LORD has brought me in to possess this land,’ whereas it is because of the wickedness of these nations that the LORD is driving them out before you.  Not because of your righteousness or the uprightness of your heart are you going in to possess their land, but because of the wickedness of these nations the LORD your God is driving them out from before you.…

admitting Sharia Law unjust..

billy~ Even to a normal, moderate, generally secular minded Muslim, stating unequivocally the argument against sharia in any form is a potentially traumatic thing - it might even be said that it is tantamount in a way to a declaration of unbelief - which is the very worst thing any Muslim might do.…

All That I Have Learned, I Have Not Learned At All.

I was eighteen, maybe nineteen, either or;

It doesn’t matter what age I was, only what I was looking for.

I was looking for answers, most of which I thought I had.

But in one quick moment I lost all that I had nabbed.

So young, yet we think that we are so old.

Capable of anything, or so we are told.

Looking back I laugh at myself when I was so callow.

Naive, stubborn and green, I was just a pup of a fellow.

Ten years later and I’ve not…

A Friend In Jim

What a friend I have found in Jim. My moments of  depression are temporarily smothered by him.

He picks me up off the ground, and as I ponder the conclusions that I have found, my thoughts flow freely, fast and sound. Thanks Jim, together we are eternally bound.

It *IS* All Just a Theory! (but it's so successful and prophetic)

Something along the same lines of my blog "It Was All Just a Theory", I want to build up a list of stuff that hasn't happened yet, but that Science will make happen.

If religionists can't appreciate all that science has learned and found to be true and presented to humanity--such as all the medicine and technology that has increased our health and lifespan and provided for our daily needs…

The Last Laugh

What is light without dark? God and Job

Job 19:1 to 42:10

19:1 Both God and Satan remained quiet while Job and his three friends continued debating the system of justice God had provided for the Universe. Job said, "Give me a break, I'm innocent. I've begged God to hear my story but he's shut me out. He has unfairly counted me among his enemies. He has…

Just got back from a memorial service

The memorial service was at a church in my small New England village.  I have driven by it at least twice a day for 15 years but I had never been inside it until today.  Even though I am an atheist, I like churches.  I feel peaceful in the quietness of a church, and I understand that it is sacred to believers.  Somehow that means something to me even if it isn't logical.

This one was simple in design, having the basic pews, pulpit, and crucifix on the back wall.  Being a…

People Die; Stop Looking At Me.

It's been a long time since I've written anything here, and if I felt like reaching into my magic hat of bullshit excuses I could blame any number of things, like writing and directing shows, or who knows what.

The truth is I've just been cowering. I've been huddled in the corner of a theological no-man's land. That place where many of us shift uncomfortably in our seats, often not wanting to speak for fear of misspeaking. It started a few months ago.

My grandfather died. The…

The Christian Delusion: Why Faith Fails

Just finished reading "The Christian Delusion: Why Faith Fails".

It's a great compilation of arguments against Christianity, each chapter written by an expert in the specific topic. It covers material which would usually be spread out in several books. My mother (who is a Christian) offered to do some book swapping, but I've been waiting to find a succinct book for her to read with an overview of the major arguments. I think I just found it.

Go buy it on Amazon and use…
