As the rest of the westernized world progresses along in 21st century, America, it seems, is going in reverse. From the awesome website of Clergy Gone Wild, David Edwards bring us this beaut.

What keeps me away from theism is really simple, I'm not nine anymore.
Also, I have more important things to worry about than eternal damnation and sucking up to a big hairy white guy in the sky. That being said, I'm currently studying Graphic Design and would love any tips on the industry if you've got them!

I think we should troll and bombard all anti-gay rights websites and post all kinds of information on how to emigrate to Nigeria! From BBC:

(CNN) -- The Nigerian senate has passed a bill banning same-sex marriages, defying a threat from Britain to withhold aid from nations…

I tried to post this as a status but it didn't work, I forgot about the 140 character limit. Anyway me and a friend started a group in our area for atheists, skeptics and free thinkers. We live in a community of ten thousand with 27 churches and 2 catholic schools and nothing for non-believers or people of a non-christian faith. We felt it was time for someone to…

This is a link to Top Ten Things Believers Say When They mean “I don’t know”. Most unbelievers have heard all of these at one time or another. I really don’t understand why anyone would be afraid of ‘I don’t know’. Here is a list of 5 reasons why “I don’t know “ is liberating and…

I like blogging about my atheist thoughts but I wanted an audience. See I'm still pretty closeted, I'll tell people at school that I'm an atheist but when sitting at home on my parents couch, as I am now, I am nothing more then a rebellious kid who doesn't like to wake up to go to church on Sundays. Too bad I'm 21.
Actually I'm at that awkward age where I don't realllly have to obey my parents but on the other hand I do; They still help me out financially with school and rent. I…

We've hit another brick in the wall. Today's big story is about a bunch of UK Muslim medical and biology students boycotting their biology classes because the lectures on evolution were inconsistent with the creation teachings of the Koran. This is not new--fundamentalist Christians have been arguing the same bunk for years. It's just that this week's flavor of wacko…

Mount an attack on over dramatic radio static statistics read the TelePrompTers dead cause I filled it with lead

Does anyone on Think Atheist have any advice/resources that could help me become a more effective essayist/story teller? I am a good technical writer, as it is a requisite for my majors in college. However, I would like to use short stories and essays to talk about my ideas regarding religion, science, philosophy, etc, and I have no time in my schedule for such a class. I have tried to write out my ideas in the past, but quit due to frustration, said frustration coming from wondering…

There is this new tendency to label outspoken atheists as “Militant Atheists.” Here’s why I think it’s wrong.
I wish I could renounce the label Atheist, to begin with. In case you didn’t know, “atheist” is a label given to us by believers. It used to be a derogatory label, a Christian slur against us coined in France in the 16th century as a reaction to growing free thought, skeptical inquiry, and intellectual criticism of religion. When someone called you an atheist it was not a good…

Coming out as a atheist has been good for me. As I worked on removing the illogical religious parts from my life, the world just started to make more sense. The last few years, the world has been in a much more logical order for me. Even those items I don't understand are not understandable in a logical way.
I do miss on some level the love and compassion found in the religious people during times of tragedy. I feel this sometimes as a deep ache in my "heart."
I had a…

Cross yourself and speak unto Jesus
And hope for the species that the people deceased
Are released from the pain and the suffering
Your faith is decreasing, the pages are creasing
In the only book you've been reading.
The idea is appealing, but somehow revealing
Of the fear that you're breeding.
And you're left needing...
You're only human.
A part of this species that does as it pleases.
If you do what they tell you then you will be…

Like a lot of people, I've been following the launch of the MSL Curiosity Rover. I was watching the news briefing given by NASA and JPL staff after the launch. They spoke of past and future space probes and longer term prospects for a manned mission to Mars.
It struck me how much more we now know of the solar system and the wider universe than we did when work began on the first probes. At the same time, new ground-based and satellite telescopes have extended our understanding of…

Of course we can have moral without religion. The Bible proves that we can.
Okay, let me explain!
Every group, organization, social structure has an ethical principle that there members are supposed to follow. It may be the ethics (Hippocratic oath) our physicians follow or it may be how a society makes it's formal laws.
A doctor is bound by his ethics, but will still follow his personal moral believes when it comes to a question about saving life thru blood transfusion (LDS).…

I would like to give thanks for all of those that have made this comfortable life possible. For all who had the ability to forego the dogma of their day and think freely. For these are the people who have made possible our freedom from oppression, our freedom from persecution our freedom from a primitive existence. True freedom only happens when the mind is free from preordained modes of thought. Embrace your mode of thought no matter who may condemn you. Ask yourself if the way you think…

You don’t have faith in Atheism.
If you know the scientific facts then you are an Atheist!
It’s really scares me to hear what the fundamentalist Christians are saying and that they actually believe themselves.
Fabrication of history to make it acceptable to a chronology in a book!
Sishonk is Ramses III and therefore lived in 22nd Dynasties and this done in the purpose to make existing fact fit into fiction based world of religion.
The world we live in…

Probably many of those who have watched that film remained surprised to hear that…

ever hear those obnoxious individuals claim that a lot of
people killing themselves around the
“holidays” is a myth?
ever see them walk with self-righteousness
as if they shouldn’t be bothered with the very idea that others in this world
might not share their abundant joy
when it comes to the genocide of native-americans or
the “birth” of a fictional character?
isn’t it ironic that what can be claimed as a myth so quickly…
